Everyone has their own favorite food items to enjoy during the summer. For myself, I enjoy an occasional hot dog off the grill smothered with baked beans on a roll. And then there's the S'more, a neat gooey graham cracker and marshmallow sandwich, which is an oh sooo yummy dessert treat... Here are some interesting food facts I came across about both these food items that might leave you surprised and amazed. HOT DOGS -For many people what's a summer cookout without hot dogs on the menu. Even though they are not the healthiest item to eat, they are certainly popular. "Americans eat 818 hot dogs per second between Memorial Day and Labor Day, which adds up to about 7 BILLION HOT DOGS." Yes, depending on whose food poll you look at, hot dogs will be on that list somewhere. ***So, why do you think hot dogs are popular? And is a hot dog considered a sandwich? What do you think and why? ***If you had to choose between a hot dog or hamburger what would be your preference? S'MORES Did you know the Girl Scouts had something to do with S'mores. I knew they had some great cookie selections, my favorite is Thin Mints, but never knew their connection to that popular campfire treat. Yep, the very first s'mores recipe appeared in a Girl Scout handbook. ***Do you know how Smore's got their name? Any ideas? S'mores also have some snack cousins that are very similar and are sold in stores. Do you know their names? ***When was the last time you ate a S'more? Lots of questions to select among to participate in this discussion. Test your knowledge on Hot Dogs and S'mores and provide your educated guess to the questions asked, or just give your opinions on these popular foods. Or do both your choice. Have fun... Hi DB S'more got its name from like, "Gimme s'more, they're good." Am I right? Just guessing. And I would choose a hotdog over hamburger/cheeseburger - but I like Kowalski hotdogs because I'm a Polish gal.

That is an excellent guess! And correct too Are we talking about the kielbasa kind Melanie? HOT DOG ANSWERS: 1. Some reasons given for hot dog's popularity are: easy to cook/prepare, compared to other foods they are cheap, and for many people they taste good. 2. Technically one could consider a hot dog a sandwich. A dog is placed between two slices of bread or in this case a split roll. Webster's dictionary defines a sandwich as two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between." So, I guess it can qualify! We can same the same for the Polish Hot Dog too, lol...

@dgobucks226 Thank you, I’m glad that was a lucky guess. And no, Kowalski has regular hotdogs (along with the kielbasa type) but the hotdogs taste exactly like fried bologna. They’re quite delicious, and taste unlike any other hotdog out there. Melt a slice of American cheese on top and you’ve got Heaven.

I'd never heard of S'mores till I came to myLot. I don't anyone that makes them here. And I'd prefer a hamburger to a hotdog although hotdogs are very popular in Australia too.

I haven’t had a S’more since the last time I went camping, when I was fourteen. As for hot dogs, it has been about ten years since I have had one. I like relish, chili without beans, and mustard on my hot dog. Unfortunately, it never works out like that. If it did, then I’d take it over a hamburger.

These days hot dogs are definitely the cheapest choice versus the hamburger. Although even hot dogs have become really expensive. HOT DOG DEBATE ANSWERS: 1. I like a hot dog charred on the grill. I haven't had a S'more in decades. I think the last time was when I was in the Camp Fire Girls. Enjoy your day.

I like to eat all beef hot dogs over hamburgers. Over fourth of July we went to two free barbecues and had hot dogs. We went to one for a charity and picked hot dogs and water and left them $5.

Sounds like you had good time and free eats, too! Are you a ketchup & mustard, just mustard, or ketchup only on your hot dog? HOT DOG ANSWERS: 1. Some reasons given for hot dog's popularity are: easy to cook/prepare, compared to other foods they are cheap, and for many people they taste good. 2. Technically one could consider a hot dog a sandwich. A dog is placed between two slices of bread or in this case a split roll. Webster's dictionary defines a sandwich as two or more slices of bread or a split roll having a filling in between." So, I guess it can qualify! Although I took a recent poll and 60 percent said hot dogs are not a sandwich. Go figure!

Hi DB I guess all the food your mention is delicious (even though I never eat S'mores) but unfortunately I can't choose between hot dog or burger because I can only eat one each.
