Any Antiques in Your Attack?

Vintage items and antiques are in high demand at marketplaces like eBay, auctions, and second-hand stores. I used to have the original 1959 Barbie doll with the black and white strip swimming suit on. I gave it to my BFF's little sister. It was worth about $1,000 a few years ago and now one, still in the box, is worth anywhere from $8,000 to $10,000. An Easy-Bake Oven from 1963 sold for $15.95 and now is worth $300. I remember selling a couple of Singer Sewing Machines at my mother's estate sale back in the mid-90s. They are worth $500 today and I probably sold those for $50 or so back then. The Cabbage Patch Dolls were all the rage back in the 80s and sold for $25. One in particular named Teresa Ann sells for $2000 on eBay.

I got that first Barbie for Christmas when I was seven and my older sister got a Debbie doll. A few years later my next sister broke her.

If we only knew that those items would be worth a fortune now we'd probably have a pile of them saved. Barbie certainly is popular now with the movie, etc.

@celticeagle with pink being your favorite color you can probably find a whole bunch of pink things these days.

My dad has a few sewing machines from his grandmother and my late mom’s grandmother that would be worth a lot, but he’s more likely to give them to my sister and me instead of selling them. While I have some antiques from my grandmother I don’t think they are antiques worth a lot of money.

Keeping them in the family is a nice way to respect their memory.

Interesting. I love antiques and used to go the estate sales they had around here. One time I went to one that was room after room of the neatest old furniture. None of it I could afford but I did buy a nice mirror for about $40. That was all I could afford.

@celticeagle I have things that I got from my great grandmother, that means they are more than 120 years old.

We did a lot of collecting over the past 50 years. Some items were sold on eBay but a lot were given away to Goodwill or the Salvation Army. Enjoy your day.
