Contractor didn't come

I thought that our contractor was gonna come in today and actually start demolishing the kitchen. I woke up at 6 a.m. so I had time to use the bathroom, take a shower, have breakfast, and wash the dishes. He never showed up though. I wouldn't have gotten up so early had I not thought he was coming today. Maybe I had misunderstood my mom on when he is coming. My mom wants the kitchen remodel done by end of August. I am not sure how that will happen if no work has been started yet by the contractor. And I still have not bought floor tile, wall tile (for the backsplash), the countertop, and the sink/faucet. Since hubby works on Saturdays and a lot of places are closed on Sundays this only leaves Thursday to look at stuff and potentially buy it. I haven't looked at anything but the countertop stone and have yet to get anything. I did find a few things I liked at Home Depot. Price seems to be close to the price that we were quoted at the Italian place, which is in the $4000 range. And I think I even like the stuff better at Home Depot than at the other place. I wonder if they do a good job with the installation though. The Ukrainian guy gave us a much better total but I no longer like the sample we chose. Maybe we will be able to look at stuff tomorrow. Though if the contractor shows up tomorrow we won't be able to go anywhere until he leaves, which won't leave us with a lot of time. Perhaps I will just leave him my key when he comes in and tell him to put it under the outside mat when he leaves and go shopping then.
