Gold is a powerful monetary source, but I've noticed the ones who have the wealth to buy lots of it, and other precious things are never content with the money they have. It just fuels their greed for more, or as Gordon Gecko famously said in the movie "Wall Street," "Greed is Good." So, I thought I'd continue the "gold theme" with some more song selections about this shiny ore... Comments and musings on my selections and your own money favorites always welcome! 1. "The Power of Gold"- Dan Fogelberg -Here's one you may not have heard before by Dan Fogelberg and Tim Weisberg explaining how "The Power of Gold" can cause you to lose your soul. Give this one a listen. The flute solos on this tune would make "Jethro Tull" stand up on one leg and take notice! TRIVIA CHALLENGE ***Now for our trivia music challenge for those who like to play along. See if you can guess these selections. Words in "quote marks" provide valuable clues! Can you name this week's tune, artist or facts: 1. This #1 song off his "Harvest" LP became this artist biggest hit. This Country Rocker was a member of "Buffalo Springfield" and later, an on again off again member with "Crosby, Stills and Nash." This artist wrote the song "Ohio" in response to the Kent State student deaths in 1970. Here are a couple of clues for you to put his song title together: an "organ in your chest" which "pumps blood" throughout your body is called the __________. A person with a kind and generous personality has a __________ of ____________. -Do you know the name of this Folk-Rock artist and his gold titled song? 2. This song was the "theme for a 1964 James Bond movie." For the "female" singer who sang the theme it became her biggest hit. She also sang songs for two other Bond films. The villain in this film was so obsessed with gold he planned to "destroy the reserves at Fort Knox" to increase his own gold's value. In the song's lyrics the villain is referred to as "the man with the Midas touch." -Do you know the name of the female singer and the gold song that was the soundtrack to this Bond film? 3. Bonus: In the 1964 James Bond movie the film's villain had a "Korean manservant" whose "hat" doubled as a weapon. Do you remember his name? Ok, let's "follow the money" to some trivia answers. If you're stuck and need additional hints just let me know in your response. I'll be glad to supply one. Or, as The Rembrandts song from "Friends" would say, "I'll Be There for You." Thanks for reading and responding to my music post!!! I will return with a new edition in the near future. Hope you can wait till then, lol. Stay tuned... Source- Wikipedia & songfacts.com
