Train journey from New Jersey to New York

While on a package tour of US I spent a few days with family and friends.
I so wanted to get some experience of how they live and so visited the local market with my niece to get fish and meat. I visited the park where they normally visit which was at a walking distance. I used her washing machine, dish washer and I even cooked with her and entertained a few of my own friends who are settled in the US.
Last but not the least I told her not to use her car but take a train from New Jersey
where she lived, to New York. I wanted to watch a play on Broadway Street. No doubt the play was a flop - wish we had chosen Lion King which was running at another theater close by. We had chosen Betrayal a 3 member cast with poor props.
What do you look for when you visit another country?

It was at Dayton. Her husband dropped us at a railway station - I do not remember the name and picked us up on our return.

The tour conductors choose what would interest us and normally I am satisfied.

The best way to get from New Jersey to New York City is by train if you don't drive by car,

Our visit to Canada was only for two nights when we once again visited Niagara Falls. I had already seen it from the US side What sight seeing did you do in Canada?

@allknowing We live near British Columbia, Canada, the Western part, toward the ocean. We have visited Victoria many times. I love the historic part there. The tourist shops on Government street are fun. The tea shops are totally over the top with sweets. We have also taken a ferry to Salt Springs island- that is near Victoria. Lovely people on that island. We took our dogs and stayed in a cabin that a person rented out to tourists. Sweet farms that sold fresh fruit like strawberries. We have visited Victoria at Halloween and went on a ghost tour walk. We went on sweet horse and carriage rides a few times. Sitting in a carriage, the horse stopping in modern traffic, waiting for the light to change, is exciting and yet romantic.

There will be sights that need to be seen by taking a bus or a local train as well. We had a bus that took us around.

I like to get out into the countryside and see what livestock they have and how it's managed, etc. We're not ones for big cities.
