Tomorrow is my mother-in-law’s birthday. We are going to an Italian restaurant to celebrate. Interesting how I didn’t even know there was an Italian restaurant in the neighborhood where we are going. I’m really looking forward to going there. I hope there’s lots to choose from the menu that hubby and I can eat. We don’t eat pork, shellfish or other seafood. Sometimes when we go out our menu options are limited.

I love Italian food. Hopefully, you will be able to find something on the menu you can eat and enjoy. And I hope your MIL enjoys her birthday. Do you get along well with her?

@lovebuglena Well, it’s good that the two of you at least get along. There’s no shortage of people in this world who hate their in-laws. Even though I’m divorced, I am still very close with my in-laws. They still treat me like family. I always stay with them at their house whenever I travel to south Florida where they live.

I think we get along fine. But we’re not besties lol. Like we don’t hang out just the two of us. Or really call each other either. I wanna see if the restaurant’s website has a menu to look at. Curious to know what dishes they offer and what hubby and I can eat.

@LindaOHio It was definitely a fancy place. There was a dress code. But it wasn't formal though.

I would miss shellfish and seafood. I try to stay away from red meat, but it’s mostly because I had so much of it growing up. Hopefully, and I bet you will, you’ll have a great birthday celebration for her, with some tasty food. Maybe you can even get a picture of the dish you select. Perhaps you might try to post it on a day Mylot is working correctly, and we can see it.

Thank you. Part of me wishes I were more like my brother. He takes pics of his food when he goes out and they always look so good. Make my mouth water. But I care more about eating than taking pics lol.

Happy Birthday to your mother-in-law. Italian restaurants (in Italy) do not serve pork often, as it is considered a "cheap" meat.

Really? Had no idea pork is considered “cheap” meat. It’s very tasty.

@lovebuglena - My husband does not eat pork (for the same reason as your husband), so I never buy.

Hopefully you'll find something that tempts you. Vegetarian dishes these days can be really tasty too.

It was pretty good. I enjoyed the food and the atmosphere. Just wish I didn't end up going there via public transportation. It was a long commute.

@RebeccasFarm Yep. Almost half hour walk to the train. Then train to bus. After bus, it's one subway line and transfer to another subway line. Then walk.

I would imagine there will be several chicken dishes for you to choose from. Or perhaps manicotti or stuffed shells with meatless marinara.

@lovebuglena I'm sure they do. Fettucini Alfredo would just be noodles and cheese sauce. If they have a website, you could check out the menu online before you go.

@DWDavis I forgot to do that. Thankfully, they had a menu outside the restaurant so I was able to look at that while I waited for hubby and his parents and brother to get there.

Enjoy your visit to the restaurant. I don't eat certain foods either. You might go for the good Ole fashioned spaghetti and meatballs.

I am not even sure they had that on the menu. We had hot anti-pasti, stuffed artichoke, tre colore salad, eggplant rollatini, and mushroom risotto to share. And for the main we ordered one each. I had the grilled veal chop.
