Thursday Morning Brief

Good morning from breezy, sunny, Green Bay, Wisconsin. It's a beautiful day out there, but it won't last. We're under an air quality alert until Monday morning. Right now, the sky is a nice blue.
I got a call earlier from my neighbor's husband. I didn't recognize his number or name until after I hung up on him. Then I called him back. He has a full day today, so I will have Missy until around 5 today. His name and number are now on my phone. So, Missy is here. I just gave this finicky pup something to eat. I made her an egg and put some deli beef into it. She gobbled it up. They told me she hasn't been eating her dog food.
Today will be an easy day. I have Canasta at noon. Missy will be all right when I go down. Her mama plays too, but not today since she's with her children, and why I'm watching Missy. So, I know she'll be all right for a couple of hours.
I had a reality check yesterday. I know what I want to accomplish with my writing, and how many books I have finished and how many aren't. I realized that my plans might not happen as I'm already 70. So, I think the most I can hope for is another 10 novels published. I can do that since I have several finished novels and a couple that are almost finished. In any case, I'll be writing until I can't write anymore.
Have you had any reality checks lately? How is your day going? Thanks for reading. The image belongs to me.

@Tampa_girl7 No it's not. I expect to publish Destination Love by the end of September.

Well hopefully you'll have plenty of time to write all that you want to write! I have one every day, that I will never make it being an artist. I don't know what I want to be when I "grow up" though if not an artist.

Never say never. You don't know what the future holds.

@just4him If it hasn't happened in 10+ years I don't think it ever will. And it not happening just leaves me more and more depressed

Yeah, the reality check is I might not find a car I want in my budget. I am going to go ahead with my plans for the inspection and maybe try to sell the car for more at a later date...and or keep my eyes open for a car in my budget. Of course there is always the chance it will cost to0 much to have the car inspected in which case the search will be on again. I am not going to be car less out here in the sticks no matter what I have to do.

@just4him It would be nice, but there are things I do like about the one I have now. I just wouldn't trust it on a long trip. It is aged after all.

@snowy22315 I understand. Mine is a 2002 and I don't do long trips either.

I am 75 and realized that I may never get my children's book in rhyme published. I sent it to an agent weeks ago and haven't heard anything. Such is life. Enjoy your day.

You might want to self-publish. That way, you would see it done. All my books are self-published. It's the route most large publishers want to see the authors they eventually work with take. I use KDP Direct. It's free.
I got off the agent merry-go-round years ago. Agents won't work with you unless you're published, and publishers won't work with you unless you have an agent.
Thank you. Enjoy your day too.

@LindaOHio True, that would be expensive.

@just4him The problem with self-publishing is that I need artwork/illustration. It's very expensive; and I doubt hubby would OK my spending the money on both.

Enjoy your company with Missy.
.
I haven't done reality checks. I just hope to do things that I enjoy doing till I can actually do them. You enjoy writing and you should go ahead as long as you enjoy it

I don’t know, Valerie. I somehow think you are going to surprise yourself.
A reality check? Yes. Probably that evil hides in even the most kind of faces. You think you know that, and then the reality check comes a knockin’. And then you become thankful you can let go, and move on without any kind of bitterness.
