What's happening in my place, the prices of tomatoes and rice soar like crazy. Every Monday is market day in my location. I went there alone. I bought spices, vegetables and fruits. I told the vendor I'll buy 1 kilo tomatoes and when I asked how much, she said 150 pesos or $3. I was so shocked because the other week the price was only P55 pesos or $ 1 USD. I paid and left but my sister texted me. She wanted me to buy 25 kilos sticky rice. I proceeded to the area to buy but there's no single buyer. And then I got the answer. People were scared of the price of rice per kilo. The other week it was P44 pesos now P62. But I don't have choice but to buy 25 kilos.
People blamed our new President for during the election he promised to reduce the price of rice to P 20 and it never happened and the worst is yet to come. . This is one effect of inflation. Thank you guys.

Everywhere in the world, prices are going up. No one person can control the prices if it's affecting international business as well. However, locally, what they can do is support and promote sustainable livelihood, and possibly look into matching wages with cost of living.

Everyone is going to have to put on their thinking caps and use alternatives, and cook as economically as they can. It can be done, and it can still taste just fine. Just take some creative thinking.
As you say, prices are up all over the world, not just in one country.

Shocked to read your discussion about tomotoes & rice price are high
You know in India Tomotoes Per kg price was nearly 200 Rupees ( 2.5 Dollars ) higher when compared to Apple
But it's price came down to 40 rs per kg
These are the symptoms of inflation as you said
The World should concentrate more in cultivation
Come days there will be large price hikes & demands

For the price of the tomatoes, I think it is because it's not yet in season. And about the rice, have you seen the news about rice warehouses that were raided? I think the traders are keeping those to make the rice prices higher.

@brokenbee, I don't know about tomatoes. The one I bought were small in sizes and there were only 3 sellers. Dunno where the tomatoes are. This month is supposed to be harvest month.

Since we have our food business we buy in bulk and we save on wholesale purchase. We also use some alternatives like we use tomato paste instead of fresh tomatoes.

@florelway, that's good thing to do because you have food business. We just buy by kilo weekly. We prefer fresh tomatoes for salad.

@cacay1 Tomatoes have so much pesticides, make sure you wash them thoroughly with salt. Our cook prefers using tomato paste while I prefer fresh tomatoes and marched with fried fish.

@RebeccasFarm yes, everything here is getting higher. We solved our problems by planting tomatoes, garlic, onions, a ginger at home. Few days from we will have backup at least.
