5 September - What I'm Thankful for Today

Today was almost perfect. Almost. Still, I have much to be thankful for today. I'm thankful I got up at 2:30 this morning. I wanted to sleep until 4:30, but it's a good thing I didn't. I got everything I needed to get done and finished before I left for the hospital. I'm thankful for the hospital appointment. It could have been worse. The health system was hacked last week, so going online or calling is almost impossible so I couldn't call in ahead of time for the medication. They didn't get the medication from the pharmacy until an hour later when they finally got the IV going. I wish it were a one-and-done, but it was two pokes. I got done there with just enough time to get to Bible study. I'm thankful for Bible study this morning. It was originally canceled because the leader was sick. However, they wanted to get together and just chat. It was a good hour and a half. One of the ladies asked me how I started writing. Don't ever ask me that if you don't have the time. People really need to tell me they heard enough, and I told them that when I had spoken for an hour about my writing. I could have talked longer. They told me it was fascinating. I gave out one more business card to an interested person I met for the first time today. So, it really was a wonderful time, even if I did do most of the talking. I'm thankful for the shopping after Bible study. I only forgot one item. Since I'm going back there again tomorrow, I can stop at Hy-Vee and pick up the potatoes I forgot about. I'm thankful for the extra time I had when I got home. I called my son; I'll be going there tomorrow. I had enough time to take the rest of my steps and exercise before my friend picked me up. I'm thankful for the Writer's Guild tonight. We had a guest speaker, a copyright lawyer. She was fascinating. It was a Q&A about what's permissible and what isn't in the writing world. She talked for an hour and answered all the questions put to her. I'm thankful I stopped at my friend's apartment down the hall. I've been praying for her sister who has stage four cancer. She had a port put in today so she can start immunotherapy. My friend told me about some exciting news she got from other members of her family. Two text messages in two days. Her mother had two other children she gave up for adoption. They both reached out because they wanted to know their birth family. One she knew about, the other she didn't. She'll be talking to them hopefully tomorrow. Okay, that's my day. I will be going to my son's tomorrow morning after the exercise class about the book cover. I'll call first to make certain he's home. He wasn't today. He was working when I called. He's an Uber driver. His girlfriend has the day off tomorrow, so it should work out.
