Bought sink but card was declined

I was looking for a kitchen sink for my kitchen. Saw it on Amazon at a discounted price. Was going to order it from there but then decided to go to Home Depot website to see if it's there. It wasn't there before but now it was available again and for the same price as on Amazon. I decided to get it at Home Depot as opposed to Amazon. If the size won't be good or if something else will be wrong I can just go to the Home Depot store and return it. I went ahead and placed the order and everything was fine. Even got an order confirmation. But then I got an email telling me my card was declined and I got a message from my credit card asking me if I made the purchase, to which I replied yes. Had to call Home Depot customer support and wait for at least 9 minutes before a rep could come on the line to help me. Once the lady came on the line I told her what happened and she had to send me a link to review my order. She texted me the link, but when I opened it, all I got was a blank page. Maybe because I have not updated my iOS in a long time as no space on my phone to do that. I asked her to email me the link instead so I can open the link on my computer. Went to my email app on my laptop but the email wouldn't load. Had to go to Yahoo mail directly to try and open the email. Thankfully, it loaded fine there and I was able to go to the link and review my order and submit my card again. Once I was done the lady on the phone did whatever she had to do on her end and told me the card went through. I wonder why it didn't go through in the first place. It's not like I never purchased from Home Depot before. And the amount was under $300 so not a big charge. But good thing I checked my email and text otherwise I wouldn't have known that the card was declined.

That can happen sometimes, and it's a real pain to resolve.

@lovebuglena I don't think anyone does, unless they know they're low on credit.

Yes, sometimes they'll freeze the account to make sure no fraud takes place. A good feature, but sometimes catches you at the wrong time

Well, at least you know your credit card company is vigilant! It IS an unfortunate hassle though.

When I was placing the order at one point it said verifying credit card but then the order went through and I even got a confirmation. Didn't think there would be any issues. It was a bit never-racking though when I wasn't able to open the link to re-enter my card info when I was on the phone with the rep.

They do that sometimes to me too. Did you approve and of course I answer and I know it is to prevent fraud but yeah what a hassle. I hope that sink is perfect too Lena.

My credit card send me a text and an email. I replied to the text that yes I made the charge. Then I saw the email. But I didn't notice the text right away as I was busy doing something else on my laptop after placing the order.

I wanted to make sure my purchase worked on Swagbucks so I can get my points. Thankfully, received an email that I have SB pending from Home Depot. One less thing to worry about now.

Thankful that the lady on the line was patient with me while I dealt with tech issues.

Sometimes the credit card companies hold a sale if they think it's different from what you normally do. I've had this happen a couple of times. I'm glad they're looking out for me!!! Have a good day.

I've bought stuff from them online before. So it was weird that this happened.

It happens sometimes, it happened to me in the past, there are so many scams with credit cards.
