Another day of earning our keep

We’re house-sitting on a farm in the south-west of Western Australia.
Today, we took the four-wheel drive up a steep hill into another paddock to get some offcuts of wood for the lounge fire. There are a number of sheep and lambs in this paddock and, while they’re not pets, they have very little fear of humans and were pretty intent of finding out what the grass was like on the other side of the fence.
We got our wood without any trouble but getting out of the paddock proved quite difficult. The gate opened only just wide enough to for the vehicle but the sheep were hot on the tail of the car. Vince stopped virtually in the middle of the gate but one brave ewe came down the other side of the car where I wouldn’t have thought there was room for her. I tried to cut her off but she shoved past and thumped me in the arm.
So then Vince had to chase away the others while I tried to get the one ewe back with her mates. Once she realised she was on her own, she was quite keen to rejoin her fellows and it didn’t take too long before all was as it should be.
So that was today’s adventure. Only one more day before the owners return and we’ll be on our way.

@LindaOHio You would have seen us rushing back and forth with the dog tagging along behind.

Adventure is the right word for your experience getting the wood. Good thing you didn't have to chase that ewe if she had gotten through the gate.

@Chellezhere That sounds like it would have been, and obviously was, quite a task.

@JudyEv It was hysterical, because I knew it was useless to try, but Judy was so determined.

It is interesting. We've mostly stayed on farms which brings a different set of problems to deal with.

I was just being envious of your house sitting adventures, but this one is hard work!

But, touch wood, luckily so far we've been able to manage.
