I received two phone calls in rapid succession The first was from a lady who wants to take a blood test at my home The second one was from a lady who is going to tell me about benefits I may claim Taking money from the state does not sit easy with me, I have never claimed anything in my life before Now I am snuggling down for a rest and will be back in a while to carry on with my notifications

Can't hurt to hear what benefits you might be entitled to and then you can make a decision about what you want to do.

I understand you very well, I never had a cent from my country and I am not ready to ask them money.

You and your hubby have paid in to the state for as long as you both worked. That money was paying for anything you may choose to claim from the state now. I guarantee the state had no problem forcing you to pay in to them so you shouldn't have a problem claiming some of that money/services now, when it would do you good. I have a friend who kept telling me he didn't want "charity" when he lost his job... It took me two weeks to make him understand that the unemployment he could collect was money owed to him for working so long.

Those benefit calls come in droves all the time. I would go to the government direct to hear about my benefits. Good luck! Have a great day.

If you are able bodied or abandoned and jobless, it should be tough to think of taking benefits. But sick people cannot help it, and have nothing to be ashamed of. Anyone who judges you must never have been in a very dark place. It is tough to realize you need help, but try to remember it doesn’t mean anything bad. Think about it as a return on all the times you paid taxes!

If you pay tax all your working life, then a little give back is not unfair
