Ophelia is about to make landfall roughly 100 miles southeast of us. By the last reports, she didn't quite make it to Cat 1 hurricane status. Still, with sustained 70mph/112.6kph winds, she's a dangerous storm. Also, she's moving slowly, meaning a heavy dump of rain and lots of flooding. We are having sustained winds of 20 mph/32.2 kph here with higher gusts. So far, I've seen several dead branches knocked out of the trees, but it's mostly leaves and twigs. Knock on wood, we haven't lost power. I don't know how long we'll have it, but I'm keeping everything fully charged and have charged all the power cells we have. I'm also making sure our Jet Pack is fully charged. Except for the storm, it's just another fun day here in eastern NC. Update: Ophelia made landfall at 6:15 am over Emerald Isle, NC, with max sustained winds of 70mph. This is about 100 miles southeast of us. Reports say another hour over water and she might have reached Cat 1 Hurricane strength since her pressure was dropping when she reached land. Winds are down to 65mph as of 9:00.
