I'm Back in Oregon Temporarily

I left Friday afternoon Oregon bound. I could have made the trip in one day, about six hours with my travel trailer but with my senior cat meowing at me all the way, I opted to stop at the Columbia River Discovery Museum for the night. I have Harvest Host and was approved to stay there for the night. Down where they usually put us RVers, was a super old motorhome, vehicles with hoods up and junk all over. They had dogs running off leashes and were disrespectful. The museum told us to go up to the top after it closed so we weren't taking up guest space. We heard them come and go all night. Other people staying complained too. I worried about my trailer batteries and tanks. I have two of each so I can boondock a long while when need to. The museum is amazing and the view of the Gorge is beautiful but safety feels off now. After a sleepless night, I left for the last few hours to Albany. I'm back in the rain. Where I temporarily live, it's sunshine 300 days a year. I can't believe I miss being in the rain forest. I miss the trees. My hoodie made the appearance today. I've visiting my oldest daughter and grandkids plus a couple friends. Mid-October, I'll head back to Washington unless a ranger at a lake I applied for to host contacts me when she gets back later this week. Not sure I want to host in the snow this year but I may give it a go. I will be hosting in both Oregon and Washington. My plan is maybe two years of this and then maybe settle back into a house. I'm just rambling away and need to get to bed. I hope you all had a great weekend.

I am sorry you had such a bad experience at the RVers park. Some people have no respect for the others.

@noni1959 - I like places where we can sleep at night and where we are safe going out early in the morning and in the evening. I am glad you are fine where you are now.

I was taught to be quiet and respectful. Where I am right now it's so quiet. It's a huge nice park and they are strict. I'll be here until the 5th so far.

@LadyDuck I do too. I decided to stay in Oregon all of October. I'm not sure if I will go back to WA during November since I'm hosting in OR for December. That is a lot of driving.

Yes you miss the rain forest..I understand that. One would not think I would miss rainy old England and Ireland compared to Colorado weather but I do. Sorry people are so ignoramuses. Hope you will be in your house then when you get to.

I am in my travel trailer. I live in it now. Had to sell my little house. I'm going to be camp hosting in both Oregon and Washington. I'm waiting on word if I'll be in the mountains for November and December. Snow but pretty sure not many will be camping.

It was. It's sad since it's a nice area and easy off the highway.

I might take a break from hosting until my two months at Champoeg (OR) in March/April. Might consider something in January or February. My girlfriend keeps wanting me to host Valley of the Rogue but they are more physical than some others and don't think I can hold up.

I wouldn't have liked dogs running loose or the vehicles coming and going all night, either. I'd complain about it. We had storms and rain this last few days and then cloudy skies today but no rain... At least the temps were nice. This coming week we're supposed to have temps in the high 70s... Have a good night.

It's been pouring here and supposed to for days. I used to live 30 minutes from here and rained about 300 days a year. It's quiet though. I'm finally going to rest up tomorrow and not be running around. Had three back to back doctor appts today. I kept some of my doctors here.

@noni1959 My part of Missouri usually gets a lot of rain. We have rivers and lakes all over this part of Missouri. My four doctors have reduced my visits to once every six months now. I believe they've given up trying to "fix" my eyes swelling shut all the time. If I were you, I'd turn the phone off and lock the doors so nobody could get in or bother me and just stay in bed, watch some movies or read a book.

@DaddyEvil I was reading land for sell and saw Missouri has much cheaper than this area but the weather is a bit scary. Do you get tornados where you are? I'm sorry your eyes are still swelling so much. I'm going to stay in today for quiet. Read, go to the little gym in the rec room, have coffee and more coffee. I'll be back on here shortly to catch up and see what everyone has been up to. Hope you are having a wonderful day.

You are having quite the time traveling around. I lived in sagebrush country for over twenty years. I do not miss the burrs that plagued my dogs feet. I do not miss the sage brush and I sure don't miss the harsh winters. I love the green underbrush and maples and gigantic firs here in Southwestern WA. So far summers have been much hotter and dryer than I thought it would be.

@sallypup We might become neighbors next year. We've been there to camp. I drove through this past July when I was coming back from Oregon and drove to the Cascade Peaks Family Camp Ground.

My son asked me today if I am going to follow him when he moves towards the western area next year. I said most likely. Though Prosser is a neat little town, it's just a stop for me since my son is there. We are talking Longbeach, Silverdale, or near those areas. I miss the trees. I'm sad to leave Oregon Thursday to head back into the desert but happy to see my son and family.

I'm sorry you had a hard night with the disrespectful RVers. The museum sounds like an awesome experience. What do you mean by hosting? I hope you have a good visit with your daughter and grandkids.
