My daughters just came back from the forest in Bolivia.

Tania has been there and Claudia wanted to see it. I don´t understand their way of thinking but each person is different. Tania said that Claudia was ill every day they were there with the worst diarrhea. Besides, thecame back full of ticks and bed bugs. Tania said that she found that everything was so gross that she wanted to clean everything but didn´t know how. I checked myself online and fortunatly they are taking antibiotics just in case. Ticks can transmit horrible ailments. She was so subdued that she said that she´d check whay vulcanologists said about the volcano and not rely upon what her hippy friends said. I just heard at the news that the Mayor in Pucón said that people should evacuate in certain places. And if they did not want to move, they would have to sign a paper stating that they´d stay. Tania told me about places where floods could happen. But what the dumb girl does not understand is that the rivers can be lava rivers instead of just water.

Me neither. To begin with, I need a good bed and a good bathroom. And I would even trust bottled water at some places.

@DaddyEvil I never particularly liked good campsites when I was young. But this place is filthy bby nature.

@marguicha I can rough-camp but I want clean drinking water, at least.

Me neither. As I see it, if I go for a holiday, accomodations have to be at least as good as the ones I have at home.

@marguicha I hope they don't have them on their bodies. They will need to get them off ASAP to avoid Lyme disease!!

@kareng They had them there. GROSS! I sent them things to read, suggested a doctor although doctors here are not used to that and they are taking antibiotics.

I hope those bugs are not the common type of bed bugs but some that only live in the tropic. Just imagine that they brought an infestation to their spotless home!

Me neither. Much less at their age. They are both over 50 (more around 60) and went alone.

The place they went to is more primitive than the Amazones (the part you can visit). My 2 daughters are crazy.

All I can say is at least they made it back safe and sound and now they know where not to go, I hope the antibiotics will help them,

As I get older, my desire to travel gets less and less. Having diarrhea while away from home is very unpleasant and I'm not keen to have that happen. However, when we're away one or other of us often come down with some sort of wog.

@marguicha It's bad enough at any time but if you're travelling, it's just terrible.
