I said I would not

I said it was creepy to have a fitness tracker track my sleep. I said I would not do it. I was mistaken. My fitbit arrived. I have set it up, and then set it up even further. It will now let me see texts, and maybe phone calls. I wore it to sleep last night, even though the band was too tight. It said my 6.5 hours of sleep was only fair. With a little diligence I changed to a larger band, and I will see if I can go to bed early tonight and improve the quality of my sleep. My legs and back have been hurting the last two days and I wonder if it is the shoes I have worn. I will try something else tomorrow. Being online without Bruno in the way has been nice. I am going to bed now. He may beat me there.

I always had to put arch inserts into my shoes, no matter what brand they were or my back and feet hurt, too. Some Walmart stores have a machine with a mat you stand on that will tell you what type of insert you should use in your shoes. It helped me a lot. (The one here is in the Pharmacy waiting area.) If you're interested, I'd call each pharmacy and ask if they have a machine like that.

I have some custom orthotics purchased from the Good Feet store. They help my back and knees tremendously. This is something else going on. Probably the shoes are not quite a good fit. Or the weather, as a co worker says.

@GardenGerty I understand and hope the orthotics help you. Good luck! Pretty had an appointment with a foot surgeon a couple of months ago who recommended some inserts for her shoes. Pretty is still complaining so I suspect she really needs surgery on one foot.

I found it interesting to get that sleep data for a while.

It is interesting to me and it is in a time frame when I know I am not sleeping well.

@GardenGerty Well, for the first week or so. Maybe month. Unless insurance threw in the premium service Fitbit has. If not the thing is basically a dumb smart watch.

I slept even less. Lots of aches and pains. One of my coworkers would say it is from the weather, and I am sure it contributes. We had a thunderstorm overnight.

Sounds like your plan for Bruno is working so that's a good thing.

@GardenGerty My sister's little cat likes to 'help' her when she's gardening. She is battling to pull weeds while trying to avoid the cat!

I do not usually have a lot of trouble sleeping, but I have been in a lot of pain lately. Work related, I am sure.

@GardenGerty I’m sorry you’re in pain. I’m not in pain but I sleep very little. I can’t relax enough to go to sleep.

I feel like the Fitbit might end up being a game changer. It would probably make me feel guilty.

I have not learned what all the little icons mean for sure. I am more curious than anything. I have gotten over 5000 steps with no extra effort each day.

I wore different shoes today and the situation is better. My substitute lead teacher would say it is all because of the weather front moving through, but my bet is on the shoes, too.

Tracking sleep could be interesting. It's the fact that all that data about us is collected somewhere that makes it creepy.

I'd like to get a Fitbit to track my sleep. Hubs doesn't believe me when I tell him I'm only getting a couple of hours' sleep at a time. I hope a change of shoes helps your legs and back. Have a great day.

I was mostly interested in how many steps I get in my work day. That seems to be around 5000. So I am obliged to try to get more outside of work hours.
