$1.4 Billion Now

If you've been paying attention to the news, no one won the $1.2 billion Powerball drawing last night and now the jackpot has boosted to $1.4 billion. I found it interesting that, as it was reported on the news, that only 20% of all possible number combinations (292.2 million to be exact) were sold for Wednesday, meaning 80% of all possible numbers were not selected. Crazy. I like that I happen to live in one of the 11 states that allow winners to remain anonymous, and if I won that would be my preference. However, I will be spending some time in Missouri over the weekend, and I can't resist playing the Powerball while I am there. But Missouri is a state that requires winners to be publicized. If I win, I guess it's the chance I take.

What would I do with that amount of money at my age, I wonder? I am now playing fake casino games (slots) online with no money. I get my fun by wining fake chips. And I also get fun by discovering how can I live well by learning new good dishes that can be cook withi my budget.

I am sure you would go out with a bang with that kind of money. Granted, we'd all like to have the money younger, but I will take it at any age it comes.

@marguicha I'll tell you what. You win and keep the $1 million and I'll take the rest. Deal?

I would not want for sure that my name would be made public... imagine how many relatives suddenly remember that they loved you.

Yeah. I am sure there'd be a LOT of long lost relatives that would come out of the woodwork. It would be hard to hide the fact that I won with that kind of money, but I'd damn sure try.

@LadyDuck Over the years I have quite a few relatives I have written off as well. People often change, and sometimes not for the better.

Just for that comment, I am going to win and you're not getting so much as a penny fished out of a urinal.

So do you have to claim the ticket in the state you bought it in?

@porwest Certainly the drive would be worth it, but I don’t know if losing your anonymity would be worth it. Who am kidding? I would gladly give my name out in order to collect 1.4 billion!

@moffittjc I am sure with that kind of dough I could afford to hire a couple of goons.

Yeah. But even if I had to go a greater distance, I am sure the drive would be well worth it.

Hubs might buy some tickets today. It's a shot in the dark; but we could do so much good with that kind of money. Have a good day and a good weekend.

@porwest That will have to wait. One winner in Missouri and one in Texas. Sigh.

@LindaOHio Yep. Oh well. On to the next one. What can you do except buy more tickets when the next jackpot gets high enough. lol. I probably still won't play the MegaMillions even if the jackpot does get high. I'm not willing to shell out $5 yet.

How did I miss all these comments? Hmm. But at least I catch it eventually and make sure you at least get paid for them. Now...let's win this $1.8 billion. We'll have to winners. One in Ohio and one in Illinois, and then I guess we can decide to meet up... I'll even go to Red Lobster. lol

lol. Yeah, that's a butt load of cash. Amazingly I think the record jackpot a few years ago was something like $2.04 billion. It gets nuts. Even crazier is that the winner didn't even take home $1 billion after taxes.

@Gilljane I'd be inclined to want to have a look for myself how this other life might look. You know, just for kicks and grins. lol

They tell who wins in Oregon so we would have to hide for awhile if we won.

I think you can still form an LLC and claim that way in any state, but I could be wrong about that.

I would also want to remain anonymous if I won any significant amount of money. I don't normally play the lottery but I just might take a chance this time.

You would be that person who annoys me. You know, the winners who say, "I never played and this one time I just thought what the heck?" Meanwhile my dumb a$$ has been playing religiously for 30 years without a dime to show for it. lol

I think all states should allow it. But it is what it is, I guess. But the less people that know, to my mind, the better for all sorts of reasons.

I would have to take care of myself, my son, my cat, my brother, and God first. After that, I would need a valid reason to help anyone else.

On the latter part of your comment, me too. I'm not just going to give money away willy nilly. I may not be as tight fisted with it. But this is MY winning loot, not theirs, and I will decide who I share it with, how much, and when.

I actually think it should be law across the land for various reasons. But so far only 11 states allow anyonymity.

When you win be sure to wear dark glasses and change your hair color. Then you won't be easily recognised.
