5 October - What I'm Thankful for Today

This is going to be short. My eyes are dilated from my eye appointment and the screen is bright.
Good afternoon from a beautiful day in Green Bay, Wisconsin, USA.
It's been a different day and I'm thankful for that. My grandson surprised me with a phone call this morning to let me know he's coming over. With Mac, of course. Mac is a beautiful golden retriever, six years old. He stayed for about half an hour. He gave me a few winter door hangers and a little snowman decoration too. He's leaving today for Las Vegas, Nevada to work at the Treasure Island Hotel and Casino as a food and beverage manager. Four people with him from his work here got jobs there. It will be different because of the location, but it will be the same as it's what he was doing here. The hotel will also pay half for his education. He's going to get an Associate Degree in Business Management. He doesn't need to worry about a place to live. He'll have a room in the hotel. They know about his dog. I'm very happy for him. Now all my grandchildren save one, are gone from Wisconsin. Tomorrow he'll surprise his mother and sister in Austin, Texas before he heads to Vegas. Today, he's hoping to see his brother in Chicago.
I'm thankful I also got a call from my granddaughter today. She told me she told him to call me and see me before he left.
So, today was all about my grandchildren.
I also had an eye doctor's appointment. Not so good news there, but it is still good. I'm having surgery in two weeks. I have film over my eye and my retina. They're going to do the first surgery in two weeks. Laser surgery. Then follow up in another two weeks to discuss the retina surgery. So, the good news is I will see better. So, yes, I'm thankful for the eye appointment today. It's not my imagination that my eyes are blurry.

At the moment I am thankful I don't need eye surgery. I am really glad you got to see your grandson.

I hope your grandson transition from Wisconsin to Nevada is a good one. Sounds like he got a great job and place to stay. Glad he spent some time with you before he heads out west. Praying all goes well with your surgery.
I am thankful for cooler weather on the way. For having warm blankets and throws to cover with when the temps do cool off and for a warm home. Not everyone has these things.

Your grandson certainly is on the ball; that’s great! Congratulations to him. I am glad the idea of eye surgery does not bother you. At least you know you’ll be better off when it is over.
I am thankful for finding a medication I thought I had lost. That’s a big deal.

No, it doesn't bother me. I had cataract surgery three years ago. The same doctor will do the surgery this time, too. The first surgery will be easy. It's the second surgery on the retina that will be more concerning. They don't know if they want to do that one. They're concerned about my age. I'll tell them age is no problem. I want to see well.
I'm glad you found your medication. I know you said you couldn't find it. Yes, it is a big deal.

Do you have cataracts? I had surgery on both eyes for that. Vegas sounds so exciting. I wish your grandson well. I'm thankful we didn't go out yesterday. Hubs and I were both tired. We just vegetated for much of the day. Have a good day and a good weekend.

sounds like a good day with the visit and the phone call. Sorry about the eye doctor and the news, sounds scary...but good you'll be able to see better after.

Yes, it was a good day. It might sound scary, but it's good. I'm thankful there are procedures today to clear up vision so we can see better.
