My Grandma is Back in the Hospital

How are you all doing today? Well hopefully Not here... My mom called the ambulance for my grandma again this morning. She called her saying her heart hurt. I've never heard her say that before. She's being admitted to the hospital, who knows how long... She has pneumonia on both sides of her lungs and her AFib is acting up. They are going to try a new med for the AFib and going to give her stuff to take care of the pneumonia. So that's the day I'm having..

She got out last Sunday and they did check when she went in...but maybe they should have rechecked. But she just struggled all week trying to feel better and wasn't....

Oh! Sorry to hear that. Pneumonia is exhausting. And her seems to be a severe one. With her age, it might take some long time to recover. Sending positive thoughts and prayers for her and your family.

@MommyOfEli2013 Take care. Stay strong. You have to keep your grandmother happy and positive. Positive mindset leads to faster healing.

I know that’s extremely worrisome. I know she wanted to go home, but I’m still surprised they didn’t keep her anyway. After all, they can keep you even if you don’t want to stay (although it doesn’t often happen). Hopefully, this will be time for her to truly recover.

Well I wondered when she didn't seem to be improving and she kept saying she couldn't do this anymore. Sometimes I worry that she'll go first... I do hope though that she will be a lot better this time when she gets out

Double pneumonia at her age with her issues is going to take some time to get over. Pneumonia can be very exhausting. I hope she stays there until she is better. Didn't Hospice say they would take your grandfather for 5 days to another facility, temporarily? That would help your family. Then you could spend some time with your grandmother. Reassure her all you can that your grandfather is ok...that will ease her mind and maybe she can rest better. Rest is so important for pneumonia recovery. I do hope she responds to treatment well and that your grandfather will not fall anymore while she is gone. She sounds like a remarkable lady.

I don't know if the 90 days started yet though...and her kids don't know about that because they weren't here. Not sure if my grandpa would agree to that anyway. But yes that would be helpful. I told my mother but not sure.. She'll get visitors though... not sure if I will...I can't handle these situations... Hoping he'll use the walker though but he wasn't this morning

@MarieCoyle I think she'd rather rest. I would just feel awkward.

@MommyOfEli2013 I'm sure she will want to see you. Yes, it's hard, but it's important for her and for you. I hope you can go.
