Momo who is a patas monkey got away from his owner who lives in Indianapolis Indiana on Wednesday. The monkey did run on the streets in Indianapolis when a neighbor whose name was not mentioned reported seeing the monkey trying to get inside of her home on Thursday morning. The concerned neighbor called the local police department to report the missing monkey that was seen trying to break into her home. When the Indianapolis police officers arrived at the home of the female who claimed the monkey was trying to break into her home, the monkey escaped to an abandoned house where the monkey was captured by the police officers when the monkey was trapped inside of a bathroom. The brother of the owner of Momo came to assist the police to take the monkey to the Indianapolis Zoo where veterinarians are taking care of the monkey. It is not clear if Momo will be returned to his owner since even though monkeys are legal to have as pets in Indianapolis, the concern is that a monkey can harm someone on the streets. The owner of Momo was cited by the Indianapolis police for the actions of the monkey getting on the loose. There is no proof that Momo may have harmed anyone on the streets. I don't care for monkeys at all. I'm glad the police siting the man for letting the monkey go loose. Glad he's okay and all.

I am in agreement with you that monkeys do not make great pets in real life. Just in the cartoons it is okay to have them a character sidekick.

@celticeagle I know what you mean since I could never figure out how a monkey worked with a preteen alien superheroine myself.

I love monkeys, but these owners are putting people at risk, as well as the monkey. The monkey did not ask to be a pet; he is a wild animal. Of course, some monkeys get hurt and cannot go back to the wild, but I kind of doubt that is the case here.

I hope so as well since the only monkeys that are mascots to humans are in the cartoons.

That’s too bad they’re taking the monkey away from the owner, but hopefully he’ll find monkey friends in the zoo.

@Deepizzaguy Who knows, maybe he’ll be better off at the zoo. He’ll have animal friends there.

I don't think monkeys make good pets; but I'm glad the monkey is at the zoo for now.

The only good monkey that I liked was Captain Huggyface of Wordgirl cartoon fame.

Yipes. They can have the monkey. I'd rather have a dog.

That is true. Monkeys only are useful in cartoons than in real life.

It's a bit sad that monkeys are kept as pets although perhaps Momo is well looked after.

I've never understood the desire of some to want to own a wild animal. I am glad no one or Momo was hurt. I think it is good the police gave a citation to the owner and that the zoo has Momo for safe keeping.

You have a good point that the owner of Momo deserved to be cited for allowing his monkey getting loose from his home.

It only works in the cartoons where the hero has a monkey as a partner.

Neither do I. I like cats better even though I have to guard myself from being scratched by them.

I have heard of the rich, and wealthy, keeping such pets too, and I have heard of cases where the so-called tamed monkey has bitten off some of the face of the owner too. America seems to have some pretty lax laws about keeping pets, and they need more regulation to ensure that owners who keep such pets, are keeping them humanely, and safely too. For some sensitive people even the sighting of a wild monkey, in such close proximity, might frighten and alarm them, even if they are not further physically harmed.

@Deepizzaguy Yes, but perhaps a large gorilla, might be even less suitable.

@innertalks That is true since in the Andy Serkis version of the Planet Of The Apes movie, the owner of Andy's ape character grew up to be a monster in the movie.

You are right that monkeys are not well suited to be pets for humans to have.
