And I am off

Have stuff going on here that requires my time, so I did not get here yesterday. Today my glasses got broken by a mishap with a student ' I have a spare pair that I took to school because this has happened before. My spare is good enough to walk the halls and to drive, but not really good for computer work. I am due a check up this month, and just had to reschedule it. I will order new glasses with the most recent prescription. The ones that got broke were about 7 years old. My eyes have changed some since then. So do not worry. No one has stolen me away. I am not mad at anyone. If I can find a newer spare I will wear them and try to get here. The parent offered to help pay for my glasses, but I will not do that. It was an accident of a sort. It is also a behavior issue, but making the parents pay will not help the child learn. The offer was worth a lot.I have vision insurance and my Medicare plan covers some of it, and I have a Flexible Spending Account for the balance. So that is an update on me.

It is nice of you to refuse the parents' offer ! You are always considerate of your students.

I am glad the parent cared enough to offer to pay for the glasses. Enjoy the rest of your day.

Well, I am not sure that making the parents pay will not help the child learn, but if your costs are covered you were right to decline.

I can relate. I can’t see to do most things without my glasses.

It's nice that the parents offered to help pay the cost of new glasses. It must be difficult work sometimes.

Glad you can get them replaced. It was thoughtful the parent offered to pay for them.

I keep a spare pair of glasses just in case. I have an appointment with my eye doctor next month. I’ll likely get a new prescription then.

I loved the line that parents payment will not help the child to learn

It is a good sign that the parent cared enough to offer to help pay for a replacement pair. Too often people don’t seem to care it might be a hardship.
