Sint Maarten is an island in the Caribbean. It is divided into the Dutch side & French side. There are no borders so you can travel with ease. The last time we were there we went to the French side & spent the day there. Another time we visited both sides of the island finishing off at the famous Maho beach where planes fly directly over your head to land on the runway of the Queen Juliana International airport. This time we decided to spend the day in Philipsburg the Dutch capital of the Island. It was extremely hot compared to New York going from 3C to 30C in just a couple of days. We wandered around the pretty little town & visited the Yoda museum & exhibition. The guy who invented Yoda who lives in Sint Maarten opened the museum show casing stuff from the Starwars films. He also had plaster casts of other famous actors which actually looked like death masks from times before. He would use the casts to make latex masks a few l remember were Robin Williams, Orson Wells, Christopher Lee, Vincent price & Marlon Brando. There were others too & models of some of the monsters in the films. We had plenty of refreshment stops & had lunch in one of the restaurants which was delicious. The coconut prawns were superb & tasty. We walked the length of the boardwalk but the heat was becoming a little too hot for us. The beach here is really lovely & the sea is nice and warm. After wandering around a bit more we headed back to the terminal by the waterbus after spending a lovely day in the Capital. The next time we come we will stick to the French side. The food is nicer & the beaches were really lovely there. The photo is of the boardwalk in Philipsburg.

I agree that the food is nicer on the French side, we had wonderful Lobsters there, in a very small place by the beach. I remember that Philipsburg was very hot in April, we rented an open Jeep and I got a bad sunburn.

Ouch. From then on till we came through the Suez canal it was around 30C except San Francisco as it was only 17-18C but quite pleasant especially for February but 30C was a little to hot to start with.

@garymarsh6 - I like the sun and the warm days, but I dislike too hot temperatures. San Francisco was very cold even when we went there in July... as Mark Twain wrote: "The coldest winter I ever spent was a summer in San Francisco."

When you say Caribbean is it a part of the Bahamas? If yes then I have been on a cruise of the Bahamas and we were taken to the Cococay beach - brought back great memories. We ate there but do not remember what it was Your coconut prawns seems rare to me.

They were just coated in shaved coconut & deep fried. The Bahamas are part of the Caribbean islands.

It is a beautiful Island l love it there. Just after my visit a few years back the Island was wrecked during a Hurricane. Thankfully you would never know it today!
