My flowering plant

Before we went away on our last house-sit, I took a photo of a flowering plant my friend had given me. At the time, it had buds but no flowers. I couldn’t decide if I should take it with me or leave it to take its chance on my plant stand. In the end I left it behind and here you can see the pretty flowers it had. They were still looking really good when I returned and are only just now starting to fade away. Maybe someone knows that it is. I certainly don’t.

Benign neglect obviously suits it! I'm pretty sure it's a Kalanchoe, like this one: More info here: https://www.thespruce.com/growing-kalanchoe-plants-1902982

Thanks for the links. I have other kalanchoe plants that look quite different but they thrive on 'benign neglect' too. What a great phrase - so much nicer than plain old 'neglect'.

The flowers are beautiful, and the buds look cute! I like the leaves, the shape looks so unique and thick, right? I don't know the names of plants. My children always asked me when we walk in the park, but I can only name a few. But without knowing the names, it's still nice to enjoy the beauty of them, right?

That's true. You don't need to know the names to be able to enjoy the flowers.

There are some good apps that can identify plants when you take a photo. I don't know names but I know a couple of friends have mentioned that they are useful.

@Fleura There are apps for identifying all sorts of things it seems. So handy - if you know what they are and how to use them. lol

It is gorgeous; I just love the color. I look forward to someone giving us an answer to what the name of it is.

@AmbiePam It's a strange name, isn't it, but there are a lot of varieties of this plant.

All votes are in and it's pretty unanimous that it's a kalanchoe.

This plant is beautiful, I think it is a kalanchoe (Flaming Katy). Those plants fear the cold.

@JudyEv I killed mine, I did not not and I planted near the pond. The snow killed it.

At first I thought it might be a begonia, but others have said kalenchoe, and I think that's it.

I think you're right. I think I would know a begonia if I saw one but there are lots of different kalanchoes.

Nice looking flowers. Are they fading because of the warming up? I think a few more folks have commented about what plant it is. Have a nice weekend.
