It's been raining here off and on most of the day, but a really nice fall day.
Dale's in his deer stand condo in the front field behind the house on the first day of deer hunting here. We still have some venison from last year, but it will be nice to have some more in the freezer.
Most of it he grinds up with some beef fat (it's too lean without it) and he puts up just a few packs as deer steaks for stew or fried with gravy.
I cooked some ham hocks and pinto beans for dinner with some fried potatoes. I tried a new recipe for gluten free baked corn bread and it's a keeper! I probably will decrease the sugar in it next time, though.
After we ate, I mixed up a little chocolate butter frosting for the top and it was like a yellow layer cake!
How's your Saturday been? We're hoping to go to church tomorrow, a friend of ours is preaching.

Church will be good. Your food sounds good too. Rained here almost all day too.. A rainy day every once in awhile is fine with me. We need it

@1creekgirl I know that Vicki and it is such a comfort to me..I know sometimes that prayer line do not know what to pray for..today I told them I am surrounded by lunatics lol..

Life changes by the minute, doesn't it? I didn't feel well today, so Dale went to church by himself. I started feeling bad during the night and today have had a headache, nausea, and a sore throat. Don't think it's Covid, I hope.

@LindaOHio It's just strange. I was sick (headache, nausea, feeling bad all over), then felt okay for a day or two, then got it again. Today I feel much better, but felt so bad yesterday that I couldn't go to church with Dale.

@1creekgirl It was a taxing week and I feel tired! I napped today but already ready for bed at 9:30 pm! I'm usually a night owl, so very unusual for me!!

We had almost a whole week of rain last week and days were dark and gloomy, Now the sun is back but autumn temps have arrived with mornings in the 60s, The ham hocks sound great I have not had any ina long time, This new week seems to be rushing with Monday already over,

Hope Dale has been able successful in his deer hunting and you can add more venison to your freezer.
Glad you found a keeper recipe for corn bread. I love corn bread but never would have thought to top it with chocolate frosting. It does sound good.
