Gosh, I haven't been to the post office in ages, but I have to go since my wife asked me to send off a package to her cousin. Usually I would just ship it from work, but of course, having quit back in July that's not an option. Then it's off to Schnuck's, which is our local grocery store. I don't usually shop much there since they are always usually more expensive. But they've got hamburger meat on sale for $2.99 per pound, which isn't great, but it's better than what I've seen elsewhere lately. There were a couple other items on the list like avocados for 79 cents each and shredded cheese for $1.69. Plus, Miller Lite, which I like to drink is only $21.99 for a 30-pack, so I'll pick that up too. On top of that I will get 4% back for Schnuck's from my Upside app plus another 1% back because I will use my Discover card. Onward and upward and I will see you on the other side.

@porwest Nice. My first ride was a 1977 Pontiac Trans Am. Essentially, it was the Smokey and the Bandit car. Paid $2k for it. That thing was sweet, had a 6.6 liter engine.

lol. Surely not. HOWEVER, it was my FIRST ride. Although not the one in the picture. That's just a picture I grabbed from the Internet. But my first ride was a 1980 Ford Fiesta as pictured, although mine was powder blue with no stripe. Paid $425 for it when I bought it in 1989.

Schnuck's grocery was my 3rd job as a youth. First was Dunkin Donuts, second was skivvying in a guest house for an old Irish biddy.

I keep forgetting you said you were kind of from around here. My very first job ever was at Dominos when I was 14 putting circulars on doors.

@RebeccasFarm That bird thingy is either in Alton or Grafton. Can't remember. I used to see it all the time on the way to Pere Marquette. We are about 20 minutes from St. Louis on the Illinois side of the river.

$2.99/lb for ground beef is a great price.

@porwest That's not realistic these days. I haven't seen it for less than like $4.59/lb around here in at least a year.

@NJChicaa It would stay on the store shelves for that price. Holy Moses!

It's not bad for today. I hadn't bought ground beef for a while and recently went through my last package. I usually buy about 10 pounds at a time and freeze it. I was needing some but waiting for the right price and found it, even though my threshold price is $2.98. lol Last year I was able to easily get ground beef for under $2.30.

I try to avoid my local post office too. It is always busy in there and it has got worse since there is no longer a bank near my home. The staff are often moody and not always very helpful. The queues are long and people are always moaning because they do not like to wait.

Luckily when I got there, there was no line. I was in and out in minutes.

Avocadoes were up to $A2 each here a while back. They've come down a bit since then.
