An expensive treat

I was craving for a blueberry cheese Danish a few days ago. I was picturing myself biting into this baked goodness, on my way to the bakery. When I got there there was no blueberry cheese Danish in sight. Or any kind of Danish for that matter. I found another pastry that had cheese and cherries in it and decided to get that instead. It looked really good. It was also big so I could share it with hubby and with my mom. The girl behind the counter packed it for me in a box and then asked me if I am paying with cash or card. I asked her how much it was and she told me $14.95. I did not expect it to cost that much. And because I had no cash on me, it cost me even more since I had to pay a 4% fee for using a card. The pastry was delicious, however, I never would have gotten it, had I known it was that expensive. In comparison, the blueberry cheese Danish would have cost me $3, which I actually had in my wallet. And for the price of this pastry I probably could have gotten a whole pie.

I'm glad you enjoyed it, especially for that price. Pretty and I walked to the expensive grocery store a few days ago when my eyes were swollen shut... I wanted a cinnamon roll... We picked up the four pack of them and headed to the register. Then we passed by the clearance table and Pretty saw cinnamon rolls with caramel topping and grabbed those, too. Our two boxes of cinnamon-y goodness only cost $6 total.

@lovebuglena I buy cinnamon rolls with stuff I can't pronounce. I don't have to be able to pronounce it to eat it.

That's a great price for all those cinnamon rolls. I was at the mall this Saturday and passed by Cinnabon. Was really tempted to get a treat from there but decided against it. The cinnamon rolls are pretty filling. Didn't want to eat that before the movie in case I end up dozing off.

@DaddyEvil It depends on the size of the rolls but the big ones are definitely very filling so just one and you're done. I'd eat one right now and with some cold milk. Don't have either of them at home or near me. Well, milk I can get but cinnamon rolls no. I'd have to spend a long time commuting for that if I don't get the supermarket ones that have lots of stuff in it you can't pronounce..

For that price, it better have been the size of a medium sized cake. But oh how I know it does not matter the price at times, when you are really wanting something. Did you share it then? Wish I had seen a photo of it..but it was probably gone quickly.

It was a long rectangle in shape. I shared with hubby and my mom. Boy, did I not want to do that. But sharing is caring as my nephew used to say when he was little.

@RebeccasFarm The only thing missing was a cold glass of goat milk.

I have never been charged for using a credit card, but I knew that happened some places. It certainly sounds good, but yeah, the price would have taken me aback too.

We have to pay 4% fee at plenty of restaurants for using a card and now even in some stores. Restaurants I understand. But stores? They shouldn't do that.

@lovebuglena I hate how more and more things are overpriced the way they are, but you can thank inflation for that.

Definitely nothing wrong with that. But some things are pricey or in some cases overpriced. I am glad that the pastry was really good.

@kaylachan Inflation is a big part of it. But also, in some instances, it's also greed. Like if someone can sell something for say 5x as much and people actually buy it then they will keep the prices that high.

Yep. Never paid that much, even in a restaurant for a dessert. Crazy. I can get a whole pie for that money.

I really enjoyed it. And I had it with hibiscus tea. So good. I have to say that when I was done I wished I could eat more of it. But I had to share with hubby and my mom.
