Today I´ll have a wonderful chicken soup for lunch.

I am not very fond of soups during summer but as this spring is almost like winter, I got out to thaw a big piece of chicken breast. I cut up some fresh oregano with my fingers, washed it although my oregano does not need to be washed, peeled a carrot that I put whole in the pot, added salt and water and now it is boiling. In a few minutes I´ll add a handful of rice and when the rice is cooked my lunch will be ready. I am wondering if I could steam some tender green beans. It would go well with the carrot as a salad. And an addition to it could be the fresh cheese I bought for Tania. The shoppers brought an unsalted one () so I will have to season it. I just have to wash a pot and 2 dishes and the kitchen will be clean. See you later. My house is finally warm. No thenks to the sun.

I can eat soup in any season really. Cold soup in summer is refreshing too.

@porwest Vichyssoise is the fancy name but it's just cold cucumber soup. That might be the best known one. A cold tomato soup can be very refreshing too.

I have heard of cold soups, but never actually tried one. Any good suggestions?

I did. And as I was thinking what to eat for dinner I happened to touch the avocados I bought 2 days ago. And they were ripe so I had toasted bread with avocado paste for dinner.

I thawed myself finally with a big shower. And the soup (and a dish with a potato and the carrot from the soup plus part of the chicken made lunch). I´ll give Luna the cheese. I tried to dress up a bit but it did not work. And Luna likes unsalted food.

It is. It doesn´t happen all the time at my house because I get tired if I´m too long standing in front of the sink.

Finally! But the heat was artificial and at my expense. The sun did nothing

Soups are certainly less ubiquitous for us as well during the warmer months. The grill gets a ton of action. But soup is just too good not to make it once in a while in any weather.
