Old Fogies At Metallica

At first, when the wife and I were off to the Metallica concert last night at The Dome in St. Louis, I thought, "We'll just be a couple of old people sitting around a bunch of kids."
But, it was Metallica, of course, and many of us there were all in our 50s and 60s because that's our generation and technically our rock band.
Of course, these days the headbanging goes a little bit different. Even of those of us who still have our hair, it's much shorter now than it was back in the 80s when Metallica rose to prominence.
At that time, an underground band. They didn't play those guys on the radio. And a lot of the time if you wanted a cassette, you had to ask a record store for it. If you wanted vinyl that was a bit harder to come by.
All in all I have to say it was a concert definitely worth going to. And I don't go to many, only ever having seen Lyle Lovett, Nickelback (a concert I thought actually kind of sucked) and now Metallica.
I am going to give a big thumbs up to the old gang, James Hetfield (rhythm guitar and lead vocal), Kirk Hammet (lead guitar), Lars Ulrich (drums) and new guy Robert Trujilo (bass). It was an awesome show from some real rockers now in their 60s.
I was glad they played a nice bit of their older stuff; Seek and Destroy, Master of Puppets, as well as some newer stuff like Nothing Else Matters and Fuel.
They are in town for two days. Friday and Sunday. And they said that they would not repeat songs in the two shows. So, the fact that we got some great classics on Friday was also awesome.
No Enter Sandman though, which we were hoping they'd play. But I guess that will be for the Sunday crowd.

Aww that’s a bummer about them not playing Enter Sandman but sound like some other good ones were chosen. I liked them as a teen in 2000 and my son likes them at 16. I’m very glad you got to watch them live after all these years. Amazing how long they have been going isn’t it!

@porwest I am so glad to hear that. Makes a change to say that something is worth the money spent. It is a good memory to have.

Yeah, the Sunday crowd will probably get Enter Sandman. Oh well. It was still a great show and we had a good time. Better than I expected, actually, especially since I am not really a big "concert" kind of a guy. But it was definitely money well spent and worth every penny in my opinion.

@RebeccasFarm It really was, on all counts. A good time, and they are still a great band.
