There are so many little things we experience or happen in our lives that can make us happy. Many we take for granted. It got me to thinking of just what examples I could come up with that would be appreciated the most. I discovered there are quite a few things. Maybe you can relate to some of the ones I will mention below, or perhaps you have some additional items to add which you enjoy. LET'S COMPARE: Here is my "HAPPY DOZEN" 1. Listening to a song and remembering where you were when you first heard it. And the year that tune came out. 2. Waking up for work and remembering it's the weekend. Whew, what a relief that always was for me. 3. Fixing something on your own without having to call a repairman. I fixed my dryer saving me a huge appliance expense. 4. Discovering a girl, you find attractive is also interested in you. Ah, young love, 5. Choosing a menu item at a restaurant you've never tried and being pleasantly surprised how delicious it is. Tasty and satisfying when that happens to me. 6. Finding out your checkup and bloodwork at the doctor's office showed you have no health issues. I'm always waiting with anxiety (bated breath) for the numbers. 7. Being greeted by your pet when you come home or anytime. It's nice when I'm appreciated. 8. Hitting the snooze button on my alarm for an extra 10 minutes of sleep. And I don't even have to go to school/work anymore. 9. Finding any item you thought you lost for good. And for me that happens on a regular basis 10. Watching a really funny TV series or movie. I've enjoyed many a chuckle watching M*A*S*H.* Cheers, and Seinfeld. 11. Playing golf with my two brothers and especially with my dad. A father son get together I always enjoyed, even when I was playing bad (which was often). 12. Taking a walk by the ocean and watching a beautiful sunset. A great way to get exercise and enjoy nature. Any experiences you can share or relate to? Photo: Sunset in Belmar, NJ (mine)

I share some of the same small things you listed. Surely numbers 12 - 9 - 5 and my favorite, enjoying a very early breakfast with my husband while we look at the sun rising from our dining room window.

@dgobucks226 - Years ago I found money in one of my boot. I used to "hide" money when we traveled, just in case someone broke into our home.

Yes, those are relatable things for sure Anna. Sharing those quiet moments together and enjoying them are priceless! I like that one... Here are a few others I also enjoy: - Finding money that you left in your pants pocket. Especially if its bills instead of change. - Making good time traveling on a vacation trip. -Enjoying seeing the flowers I planted come up each spring and summer.

I can relate to most of what you have written. I would add listening to my favorite music and going through my photos on the PC, Then relaxing and doing some coloring which always relaxes me, Finally watching my two cats as they're always good for a smile or a laugh,

@RasmaSandra Excellent! I would occasionally look at the cloud shapes while enjoying the beach. They do make some interesting looking shapes as they drift.

Yes, nice additions! I listen to music pretty much every day. It's like medicine for the mind to fit or put me in an excellent mood. I have digital photo which displays photos of so many wonderful memories. And I do crossword puzzles which I find relaxing. So, we share a lot of small things we enjoy doing. Here are some others I do you might relate to: - Talking to an old friend and catching up. -Stargazing.

That was an amazing post! One of the things among so many that I appreciate is going to sleep in my own comfy bed. Thankful I'm not in a nursing home, hospital, homeless shelter, friend's house, relatives house, hotel, cruise ship, or under a bridge.

@dgobucks226 I noticed none of those cost any money. Just our time and effort.

@1creekgirl Yes, yes, great catch! Simple pleasures may not cost much but they can bring us much more pleasure than many things that do...

Thanks so much! Absolutely Having your own place to call home is definitely taken for granted. And even if it's not perfect, it's much better than the alternatives you mentioned. Here are some others I can relate to: - Helping others in need by donating clothing, time or money. - Finding money that you left in your pants pocket. (hopefully dollars not coins, lol) - Talking to an old friend and catching up. - Enjoying seeing the flowers I planted come up each spring and summer. -Stargazing.

I loved my school and college days when I was good at studies, at debate and recitation and sang well. My teachers and friends loved me. My teachers were proud of me. My friends often requested me to sing songs that they enjoyed. I am nostalgic of the good romantic times I spend with my late husband. I am happy that though alone I am living peacefully with my pet dog.

Beautiful photo there. And I can relate to most all of your list. My life is all about the little things. Memories of Dustin. Things we did. Remembering his laugh. His smile. His jokes. Clean sheets are a luxury each week. Being home to take care of Brendel when she needs me the most. My coffee in the morning. Always enjoy as if it was the first time. Sunrises and sunsets bring joy. They are always different each time. Having a good laugh with my friends on the phone. Reminiscing. Listening to the rain. The smell of the rain as well. Finding an old photo and being take back to that moment in time. Knowing you have helped someone as they share a smile. I could keep going with my list. Good to see you!

What a wonderful list you put together. Many I can relate to as well. Family memories, coffee in the AM, sunsets (I'm awake too late for those sunrises), old photos, making someone smile or laugh. Here are some others you might relate to: - Helping others in need by donating clothing, time or money. - Having your favorite dessert or snack you've been dying to eat again after a long time. - Enjoying seeing the flowers I planted come up each spring and summer.

My first thought was a “puppy kiss” on the hand when you are thinking hard about something. Or getting an I love you text from a friend who wanted to make sure you knew how much they appreciated you. I got one of those the other day that made my night. Lastly, when you get paid way more for a survey than you anticipated! Great discussion!

Thanks! The two feelings you mentioned love and appreciation are simple expressions that pack a whole lot of happiness. Oh, for sure. Who doesn't like being paid for their efforts, and getting a bit of a bonus, definitely would make one smile with happiness. Great additions! Here are some others you might relate to: - Helping others in need by donating clothing, time or money. - Talking to an old friend and catching up.

I like going for a simple walk by the river or going to the free part of the zoo. Feeding the ducks at the duck pond.

That's very nice! I've also gone for walks by a nearby pond which has ducks, swans, and geese. I've even seen an Egret a few times. Must have got lost on its way to warmer climates, lol.

I really enjoyed reading your list and can relate to all of them. I would put riding my pony on my own through bushland way up there too although it's a long time since I've done it. Also feeding pet lambs and watching their little tails wriggle in ecstasy. lol
