Cats, Coffee and Catastrophe

The other Friday we were wandering along Brick Lane looking at the graffiti-not quite as good as it was before the pandemic.
At the top of the lane is Lady Dinah’s a cafe for lovers of cats. We hadn’t booked, but luckily it was open to walk ins. About a dozen cats live in the shop, with most of the activity happening downstairs.
The moggies are all very friendly and move around, and sleep, as they wish. The cat on the table, looking for some eats, is Sherlock, his brother Moriarty was around somewhere. Have forgotten the name of the other cat in the picture.
On the way back to the Tube Station, walking along the Whitechapel Road I suddenly found myself sprawled on the ground and seeing stars. I had tripped over something and was a bit stunned.
Making our way to the Blind Beggar Pub for a vital pick me up and to check damage, I seemed none the worst for wear, but the next morning was a different story.
Somewhat dramatically. I thought I may have broken a rib, but it was just bruising. Still, Standing up, sitting down and even walking needed some thought and careful manoeuvring. Even worse, I had sprained my wrist and needed both hands to pick up my tea mug. That was a blow!
Well on the mend now and have even been on a bike ride… with some care!

Sorry about that.
Glad you are getting better.
Such a cafe sounds like a great idea for some people who loves cats but not comfortable keeping some for one reason or the other

@Ronrybs Sure landlords do have their different conditions.
The cafe landlords must be a lover of animals as well

I'm guessing the better graffiti was painted over by the next "artist"? (Some of the graffiti I've seen is really good and some really bad. I wish the next person would leave the good pictures alone and paint over the bad ones... but they never do.)
What caused you to trip? I hope you get better quickly.
I sprained my wrist a couple of months ago and wore a wrist brace for about two weeks... I don't even know how I sprained my wrist. I wasn't doing anything different but there you go... Fun, fun.

@Ronrybs I don't understand why they do that... Surely the different "artists" are aware that the other person painted a better picture than they're going to paint.
I've fallen like that, too. The poor state of the pavement here is the reason I don't like to go walking after dark. I'm always afraid I'll fall and break something.

@Ronrybs I'm sure the talentless people will say they're "practicing" their craft.
We get the same thing. Someone hoping to move into the office will promise repairs and renovation... We rarely get it.

@LadyDuck If you like a bit of a laugh, grab a copy of Flashman and the Tiger, by George MacDonald Fraser. Read the Sherlock adventure The Empty House first and then go to Flashman. Flashman is a collection of short stories about the bully of Tom Brown's School Days.

That fall sounds bad enough but lucky I guess that it wasn't worse. We have a friend who tripped on a tiny bit of raised pavement and has done major damage to her knee. I think they have a bookshop/cafe in Perth somewhere that has cats.

I think a chunk of the curb was missing and I lost footing. Could have been worse. Quite a few bookshops seem to have cats, a natural combination. What I like was in Europe the cafe have a cat on the staff. Actually I am sure they own the place!
