Is It a Secret?

No. Not really. I have mentioned it a few times around here in the past. A person. Ivan S. Graves, better known as the former founder and editor in chief of the once popular online horror fiction magazine known as FrightNet, which became almost an instant success when it first arrived on scene.
It was the first of its kind on the Internet at the time. And a format that many others after it tried to copy, but not with the same level of success.
The idea was to create an online magazine that looked and felt like an in-print one. Old, pulp fiction style. And it mostly succeeded in achieving that goal.
When you typed in the URL you were directed to the main cover page, that when you clicked on it, you were sent to a traditional table of contents page full of links to editorials, articles, interviews and of course, short stories.
These days FrightNet is nothing more than a memory. Except for a couple issues that remain on the Internet, archived on the Wayback Machine for all to enjoy and see.
I wish I would have kept copies of all of the issues that ever were released. But keeping copies from the Internet was much different back then and it was nearly impossible to maintain any personal archive.
Nonetheless, I happened to be talking about FrightNet with someone outside of here and it made me want to go back again and have a peek, and thought I would share that old adventure with all of you here.
It was fun being Ivan S. Graves, going on to edit the horror anthology Dark Whsipers, which unfortunately is no longer available either. And it is not like I ever stopped being Ivan S. Graves. Because, well...he's me of course. A darker version of me, mind you. But he's right there. Inside. Enjoying the old pages of FrightNet right alongside me and you.

Well, to be fair, I pulled the plug on it around 2002 or so, so it's been gone a long time. I have thought about trying to resurrect it a few times, but just haven't done it. I guess now that I am retired, I'd have more time to give it another go if I wanted to. And I still have many of my old connections.

Thank you for the link. So many good writing sites are gone. Hope you and the wife have a Happy Thanksgiving.

@LindaOHio You are about the third person here to tell me that. Hmm. Perhaps I need to take the advice of others.

I think you and many people misread horror. At least TRUE horror. Not that slash-o-matic stuff. In real horror stories, good usually wins over evil and evil is almost always overcome in some way or another.
The real horror in the real world is much worse than any horror writer has ever been able to imagine, and in the real world, evil wins all the time.
But it's like anything. Some things just aren't for everyone.
