Today's trip to the big Tesco.

We went to the big Tesco again today. When we got into the car park I saw Tony from Church on the bench, so when I got out of the car I went over and had a chat to him. He said he'd seen our car go passed and he'd thought, Oh, that's a nice car, not knowing it was us in there! And then he said he saw me get out. He didn't know we'd had a new car, and we've had it for quite a while. Then Mum came and joined us with a trolley and she started chatting to Tony too. Tony said that there were long queues at the tills and it was taking about 20 minutes to get through the tills. Then I saw that the trolley that Mum had got hadn't got a hook for me to hang my bag on, so I went and got another one that had. Then Tony's taxi came so he said goodbye. I went in and put the recycle in the recycle receptacle and then we went up on the lift. I went to the books first to see if we could get a copy of Noel Fitzpatrick's book 'Keira and Me' for my Mum to give to her friend Nan Nutt. At first I didn't think I was going to be able to find it, but it was further up with the spines facing outwards so you couldn't see the front of it. I looked at the price on the back of it and it said £18.99! But then on the shelf it said £12, or £9 with club card, and we thought, Oh, that's better! So we got that. Then I went to look at the magazines. The January issue of Leisure Painter magazine should be out by now, but the big Tesco didn't have it again, and I don't think they had the December issue in at all. So instead I got another card making magazine, and this one had Christmas papers and toppers included. After I'd got my magazine we saw some pringles in a stack. Me and my Mum both wanted pringles for the church hampers. I chose BBQ flavour for mine and Mum got an original flavour for hers and she also got a salt and vinegar flavour for us at home. After that I got 2 bottles of water and 2 prawn layered salads. The bottles of water I got were different to the ones I usually get because the ones with the blue lids were sold out. I got ones with red lids instead, but they were skinnier than the ones I usually get! Then I got some pads for my Mum and then we went to the fruit and veg section. I got my blueberries and spring onions and Mum got some lettuce. But I've only just thought - I forgot to get any rocket lettuce for Friday's dinner! I got some soy milk with no sugars and 2 lemons. My Mum got some bananas. Then I got my yoghurts but I couldn't get the peach flavoured ones that I usually get, so I got strawberry and banana flavour instead, and then we got 2 bottles of semi-skimmed milk for my Mum. Then Mum got some puddings for Sunday. I got some grated cheese and then we went to the vegan and ready meals isle. I got some scrambled tofu, some fridge raiders not-chicken pieces, a mushroom and garlic slice, a vegan quiche and some vegan mac and cheese. My Mum got two shepherds pies. Mum wanted to get some cranberry sauce for the church hampers, so we got that and then we went to the canned isle. From the canned isle I got a beef and tomato pot noodle and a can of soup for my step-dad, and the soup has a long complicated name that I can't remember but I think is something like scotch broth! After that Mum decided she wanted some microwave rice, which was in an isle that we'd already gone passed! So we had to go back and get those. She wanted egg fried rice. Then we went to the bread and 'Morning Goods' isle. My Mum wanted to get some mince pies for the Church hampers, so while she was choosing which one of those to get, I went and got a medium sliced 50/50 loaf. After that we went to get some cakes. I got some more of my little cakes and Mum got some cakes which were something like donuts for tonight and a small Victoria sponge cake to last a few days. We didn't need any crisps, and we'd already got the pringles, so then we went to the tea and coffee isle. I went and got some of my matcha green tea T-bags and a packet of mixed nuts and raisins for the Church hampers. Then I went back to help Mum choose a packet of biscuits for the Church hampers. Then we went up the other end of the isle again to get some biscuits for cheese. We got a Jacobs selection box. Then we went to the cereal isle. My Mum got a tin of rice pudding for the Church hampers. She wanted to get a tin of peaches but we couldn't find them. I got a box of cereal for the Church hampers. I can't remember what they're called, but they're like rings and they're coloured pink and yellow! After that we had to go back to the seasonal isle where the sweets are because my step-dad wanted some fudge. But at the end of the isle was a lady who asked us if we'd like to try some mint chocolate. My Mum tired it but I didn't. My Mum told the lady it was because I was vegan! Then when we did manage to get down the isle we didn't think we were going to be able to find any fudge! But I eventually did find it right at the end! Then we went to the frozen section. I managed to get some This Isn't Chicken pieces and some frozen onion, which I was very pleased about. My Mum said she'd never seen me so happy about getting frozen onion! I also got some king prawns, some more salmon parcels and some more salmon chunks. While my Mum was still looking at the frozen stuff, I went and got some toilet paper for my step-dad, and some baking paper and colour collector for the laundry. Then we went to pay. There were only about 3 people on the tills and there were quite a few people trying to get to each. When we got to the tills it was 4:00pm. It came to just under £140. When I'd finished paying it was already 4:20pm. So Tony was right when he said it was taking 20 minutes to get through the tills. I went and swapped my book at the Tesco book swap and we went down on the lift. My step-dad wasn't there when we got to the car park so we sat on a bench for a bit. When we got home it was very dark. I switched the lights on and closed the blinds. Then I helped to get the bags out of the boot of the car. Then I unpacked the groceries and put them away. Then I had my dinner and watched some telly. What have you lot been getting up to today? I hope you are all well. Have a great night.

You did a lot of good shopping at the big Tesco. I went shopping this morning and I forgot to buy the onions . I think I have enough for some days, I will buy on Monday. Have you noticed how the dark comes early now?

@sharonelton - That is the problem with blackberries, their seeds are hard and difficult to get out from our teeth. I have some red onions, I will use them if I need.

@LadyDuck Oh, yes, tell me about it! Thankfully they did manage to work their way out eventually! I don't like substituting red onion for white.

Yes, we did, didn't we? Well, it was night when I wrote this post, but I did enjoy my night. Today would be the last day again for the people at art class, and I'm doing something similar at home again. It's ruby slippers (red shoes) today. Next week I will do something of my own choosing. Next week the people at the actual art class will be doing their mounting ready for their exhibition.

It sounds like you had a busy time with your shopping. One thing I hate about going shopping is having to wait for ages in the queue. I wish the shop would put more staff on the tills to make the queues go down faster. It annoys me when I see empty tills that could be getting used. In fact I hate shopping at all when the shop is busy because people are always getting in the way . When I am looking at something I often get pushed out of the way because the person does not want to wait for me to finish what I am doing. If somebody is looking at something that I want to look at, I always give them the space to finish what they are doing before I try to take their place. I suppose the shops are going to get even busier over the next few weeks.

No, I'm not keen on standing in queues either! My legs start to ache. Yes, I'm like you. I always wait for someone to finish before I take a look where they were standing. I don't have much experience of being pushed out of the way, but I do have experience of people putting their stuff on the conveyor belt before I've finished putting mine on! But the Tesco on Thursday wasn't that crowded. In fact sometimes I was the only one in a certain isle and at the most there were only two or three other people in an isle. It was just when we got to the tills that the congestion started.

Well done on all the shopping getting done! What is a book swap? Is it where you drop in a book you finished and pick a book someone else has left there for no fee? Novel idea that, pun and all I'm not one for big supermarkets, but at my sister's we had to do that for quite awhile, it was always frustrating when the big supermarkets only have two or three tills open and then you always get someone who wants to draw cash or pay bills or some such also. Lucky here supermarkets are small and all that bill paying is done on machines.

Thank you very much, it was fun and satisfying. Yes, that is what a book.swap is. You can also donate books if you like, or you can buy the books if you have no book to swap. Novel, idea, yes, very funny. Yes, it is a bit frustrating when there are only a few tills open and the queues are long.
