Thanksgiving is really, mostly an American holiday. But did you know that the first Thanksgiving celebration happened in 1621? That makes Thanksgiving 402 years old.
The United States, where the celebration is honored, became a country in 1776.
The holiday has been an official national holiday since it was signed into law in 1863 by President Abraham Lincoln.
A ton of turkeys are eaten during this festive time. In fact, it is estimated that 46 million turkeys are eaten on this one day every year. The state of Minnesota is noted as being the state in the Union with the most turkeys.
Now you know.

I made it through the entire day without eating a bite of turkey. For dinner I had a hangar steak, octopus, scallops, roasted potatoes and green beans. It was my first time eating octopus, and it was absolutely amazing.
