My pet peeve for the day: STOP STOP STOP

Israel
November 30, 2023 12:25am CST
I was having a conversation with a guy on the Whatsapp, who I might meet if he comes to Israel. I was talking about my day yesterday which was disappointing for me, and in the middle of the conversation he said: STOP STOP STOP. I find this to be quite rude and disrespectful. This had happened before when I was having a conversation with my Stepmother, she said it too, but she is often stopping me from speaking. Is there a popular television program where the characters interuppt each other like this? I live in Israel and I do not watch TV.

I guess I'd have to know what the conversation was that he said to stop, otherwise there's no context to have an opinion one way or the other.

He then said that he didn't want me to "wallow around in the negative emotion" Well telling me STOP made me mad. So maybe I don't want to talk to him anymore.

I do not think this is learnt from TV behaviour. Interrupting someone when they are talking, and in the manner you described, just shows a lack of good manners.

How do people in Georgia converse? Or is this a lost art?

I have seen no TV shop where they say stop, stop, stop.

Sorry, I do not watch TV either, but I find this very rude. You do not interrupt people while they are talking. I am glad to see you around and to know that you are well.
