My uncle is not doing well

My mom let me know that my uncle, the one with terminal cancer is not doing well, which is sad but not unexpected. He was able to get a hospital bed for his home though, and a smaller wheelchair and transport chair. It was all set up by my cousin's employer who must be an angel.
. However, I asked my mom how much time he has left, whether it is days, weeks or months, she did not answer..so I guess it is unknown at this point. I was wondering if he could get some kind of hospice care at home? My aunt must be so tired of dealing with the burden mostly by herself. I had several relatives pass away in January after the holidays..I wonder if this will be the case now? I think if he can make it to his doctor's appointment on Weds. we will know more.
. He was always sis and I's favorite uncle..although we were closer to one of my other uncles since he was such a good brother to my dad and visited us fairly often.

@snowy22315 Those are wonderful memories for you. Our son Robert has always been the fun uncle (the Funcle) to Tammy's kids.

@snowy22315 I am envy you for having an uncle like him. Both of my parents' side do not like us. So, I never experience having precious moments with our uncles and aunts.

I am ver sorry for your uncle. The doctor will give a guessing about how long he can still live, but they are never precise. I think you aunt should be able to get some kind of hospice care at home. My neighbor had this service when his husband was at a terminal stage of cancer.

They aren't precise because they can only give an educated guess. They may not want their patients stressing unduly, but I think more would be stressed that they didn't get everything done they wanted to. Yes, I sure hope so. I think it would be too hard and stressful for the family to deal with alone.

@LadyDuck Yes, they usually have a pretty good idea.

@snowy22315 - Sometimes they make big mistakes, but when the patient is very bad they usually know for how long the patient can live.

I am too. We used to always spend holidays together, but after my grandparents passed we didn't do it anymore which was a shame.

She may need to be encouraged to do this, but it would take some of the burden off for sure.

Doctors never tell how much time people have left. And they are right. I don´t believe in miracles but miracles do happen. For me the most important part of the end of life is that our loved ones don´t suffer.

They do give them a general time frame though like 6 months to two years or whatever. Medicine isn't a precise science.Although I do believe he is in the final stages. We will see.
