Another boring and slow afternoon.

Monday afternoon here, and all is quiet. Therapy just came to take George for a walk, and it's amazing how well he is doing. They are letting him walk around a bit. This hospital is long so it'll do him some good to move. He gets sick of being confined and can't always express it. But, he's off taking a walk, which isn't a bad thing. We're hoping the number of things attached to him comes down. First just might be oxygen.

A walk is a definite step in the right direction, yay! I'm so glad you were able to get him moved there.

We'll both be happy when they decide he doesn't need the walker. He won't need it for long, and he won't be going home with it. They are just being over cautious.

@kaylachan Yes, in a medical facility they always take extra care to avoid any possible falls.

Well, he's strong enough to walk like he used to, so it's a matter of Ot and PT not being so over cautious.

@kaylachan — a friend of mine had a stroke, and she said the worst thing about it was learning to slow down while she recovered. It took a few falls for her to understand that her body had been through quite a traumatic event.

@FourWalls Despite the severity, George never lost the ability to walk. Sure he did fall in the first hour of the stroke, but that I think had a lot more to do with the stroke itself hitting his brain. He got himself up, and made his way to the couch, almost as if nothing had happened. Took him a while to realize something was wrong.

That is fantastic! I bet he hasn't walked around in weeks. This hospital definitely sounds like they are doing the right things.

Yeah. He's frustrated because they have to be extra careful, but none the less. He's up and moving.

I'm so glad he is there and doing well. I know we all can't wait until he is 100% and back at home. Hugs.

This place is helping him get better leaps and bounds - letting him walk will do good for his body and soul!
