Ron de Santis, Republican Governor of Florida, has made a list of books that are now banned from the State of Florida in the US.
Among them is "The house of the spirits" by Isabel Allende, a very famous Chilean writer. And there is a book by the Colombian Nobel Prize, García Marquez and Canadian Margaret Atwood. But the list would be tooo long for a post as there are over 600 books banned.
From what I have heard of De Santis I wonder if he has even read these books.

Even if there weren´t other reasons to be against him, this reason would be enough for me.

@marguicha - He is full of stupid ideas and he want to impose weird rules. I am glad we decided NOT to move to Florida.

The list I wrote about had names of the books and in the case of The house of the Spirits, even the author just talked about it. I have read it and found nothing to be banned. I would not give it to a small child, but I would not give some of Grimm´s fairy tales to them. There´s an age for everything. I don´t think the the banning of at least one of this book is a hoax.

@thedevilinme I heard it in the news that they had been banned. And Chilean author Isabel Allende, gave a conference about her book being banned.

No. He never read one of them. If they have an author's name that is not in his eyes American then it's going on the list. He is a real piece of work. I hope no one is dumb enough to vote for him ever again.

I don´t want to meddle in your country´s political affairs but for me it is unbelievable that so many people voted for Trump. So, after all, who knows!

I don´t know if he has written any books himself. He sounds absolutly illiterate.

@marguicha I agree. That is why it is not convincing to persuade the readers.

What is his reason for banning these? Doesn't sound reasonable?

@RebeccasFarm But it does sound unreasonable to me that a Gorvernor should ban books instead of, maybe, a school board and a PTA.

I really think it is a parent's responsibility to monitor what their children read.

I wholly agree. And if a certain book is compulsory, the parent should go to the school and ask for an alternative book for their children.

I see that he is already "studying" for dictatorship with this new law.

It is more than a pity! And it is a pity that people don´t vote for an alternative to him.

It's interesting that he has time to go through all these books and find 600 to be banned. Thank you for this information.

Thank you. I don´t think that books sholud be banned, unless parents ban a certain book for their children and explain the reason to the teacher no give then an alternative reading.
