My birthday celebration

I had a full day of activity for my birthday. It was just hubby and I.
It started off with a sweet breakfast at a nearby restaurant (Panino Rustico). There I had a blueberry crepe, followed by a cappuccino and a linzer tart.
Then we went to a Broadway show called Shucked. It was a great musical, however, the actor I really wanted to see (Alex Newell) who won a Tony for the role of Lulu was not there. We also ended up getting there ten minutes late, which wasn't good. I hate missing even a minute of a show. If it weren't for a parking garage a block away we would have been even more late.
After the show we walked along Times Square and made our way to a French Restaurant called La Grande Boucherie where we had dinner. There we shared everything. Our order included escargot, cauliflower soup with custard, foie gras torchon (French for “fat liver tea towel”: toast, foie gras, caramelized onions, cherries), duck confit salad, MAGRET DE CANARD À L’ORANGE entree (roasted duck breast, orange sauce, braised Belgium endives), and for dessert Bonnet de Noel (Gingerbread mousse, apple brunoise jelly, lemon madeleine biscuit).
We ended the night with a stroll along 5th Avenue. I got to see the beautiful store displays and the Rockefeller Christmas Tree, which was breathtaking.
Manhattan (or the city as we refer to it here) was full of people out and about, even in late hours. In some places it was very crowded and hard to walk through but that's to be expected during the holiday season.
All in all a great birthday!

@lovebuglena - Most of the time here in Europe people sit at a restaurant for more than 2 hours, particularly if it's a celebration. My husband hated to be rushed in the US.

I liked that the restaurant didn’t rush us. We were there for over 2 1/2 hours.

Thanks. Just wish I wasn’t late to the show. Or had to worry about being late.

@LindaOHio if hubby hadn’t gone to buy me flowers and/or didn’t need to shower and shave we would have made it.

@lovebuglena Oh yah . . . I would love seeing a Broadway show too! I know, for a show you want to see the entire thing. Maybe it'll be a reason to go see it again

Thank you. I’m glad I went to see a Broadway show instead of going to a casino. Just wish I got there on time and didn’t miss the very beginning.

That’s a pic of my dessert. I described it in the discussion. I think there’s even a gold leaf on top.

I’m sorry I missed wishing you a happy birthday. It sounds like you had a magnificent time!
Coincidentally, I tried escargot for the first time on New Years Eve. I loved it!

@lovebuglena Sorry you missed a portion of the Broadway show. Was it because you were late getting to the show?

We are not really supposed to eat it as far as I know. It's not kosher. But I guess hubby decided to make an exception. He did that for his dad's 65th birthday as well, which was at the same restaurant back in 2022. We don't keep kosher 100%. We just don't eat certain things. Like pork, shellfish, crustaceans, frogs, etc.

My birthday was pretty good, minus the fact that we missed like ten minutes of the Broadway show.

I wish we weren’t late for the Broadway show and that the actor I wanted to see there was actually there. But that aside it was a great day!
