In 2020 during the COVID lockdown Sonja Dostoevsky, 45, a resident of British Columbia, Canada declared herself an "ecosexual". She is erotically attracted to a tree. According to the New York Post, she is a self-professed "self-intimacy guide and somatic sex educator in training. She says she noticed a connection to the tree after walking near it five days a week for the entire winter. She sees erotic love as the highest love and that you give an item meaning by sexualizing it.

I read that article the other day, and then I showed it to my son. His comment was ''mom, these people are nuts'' and I do have to agree with him. It's OK to love an object, a tree, a thing. But to be IN LOVE with said object? Umm...I can't imagine. Ugh.
