Thanks to the efforts of the United States Coast Guard (USCG) as well as the New York Department of Environmental Conservation who witnessed a female coyote that was shivering in 43 degrees Fahrenheit weather aboard a log in Lake Erie in Buffalo New York jump into the lake, Lindsay Wood who is the Erie County SPCA chief investigating officer and her team jumped into the lake to rescue the coyote who had been in the water for about three hours.
Lindsay as well as her mates Molly McLaughlin, Meghan Giles and Melina Homsi worked together to get the coyote out of the water where the coyote was then taken to the SPCA West Seneca location where she was examined and taken care before the coyote was released into a wooded area near Wilkeson Pointe where the coyote was rescued after one day after she suffered minor injuries in the incident in the water.

It was good that the proper authorities rescued the coyote, as if a member of the public had tried doing that, they might have been bitten, in the attempt. Coyote attacks on humans, are rare, but they do happen.

@Deepizzaguy "Coyote attacks on humans are uncommon events and rarely cause serious injuries, but have been increasing in frequency, especially in California. In the 30 years leading up to March 2006, at least 160 attacks occurred in the United States, mostly in the Los Angeles County area."

Reports from animal rescue person state that even though coyotes are harmless, do not mess with them.
