New Years Eve Fireworks Before NYE

One of the things Disney World does to manage the New Years Eve crowds is to celebrate NYE on both the 30th and 31st of December. With about 150,000 people attending the fireworks show, they have found a way to double that number to 300,000. Pretty ingenious, although it’s not the same celebrating a day early, in my opinion. But one thing I think is really cool that Disney does is have a children’s NYE fireworks show. This show is done at 6:30pm on both the 30th and 31st, to give young children and their parents the opportunity to ring in the “new year” with an amazing fireworks show without making the kiddies stay up too late. Well done Disney. Well done. What do all of you have planned for the real New Years Eve?

If I couldn’t be at Disney for NYE fireworks, I would probably watch the celebration in NYC on tv.

I fully agree it's not the same to celebrate a day early and also seen as an unlucky sign in Italian superstition. We plan to stay up watching on TV the New Year come in the various part of the world, open the Champagne at midnight and then go to sleep.

Still just as beautiful as ever! I saw the fireworks show the other night and saw they have a heart-shaped firework in their show (among many others). I thought that was pretty cool.

I have seen several New Year's Eve fireworks shows over the years. They were beautiful and I truly enjoyed being able to see it. The real New Year's Eve, no plans this year. If my son was better I would probably go visit my bestie...but not going to happen this year. Have a great finish to your holiday, Jeff!

@moffittjc Hopefully we will soon get him stabilized once again and I can. We've been friends for years and years...and our children are good friends as well. More like sisters than friends, we claim ourselves as such! I am so thankful she has been in my life for so many years.

Honestly, that's what I wish I did. On NYE day, we put in just over 21 hours of being awake and on our feet. I was completely exhausted by the time the NYE fireworks show started, and then we still put in a couple of more hours at the theme park after that.

Disney fireworks are spectacular - I'll bet it's extra spectacular for NYE! The times we've seen it (not holidays), it never disappoints. It'll probably be pretty quiet for us . . . except for the neighborhood fireworks - which probably will not be as spectacular .

I like a good firework display but not keen on big crowds. We are just going to get together with a few friends to share some food and play some games.

I think New Years Eve is about the only time I actually enjoy being in a huge crowd. To me, that is all part of the countdown to the new year and all part of the big celebration. But normally I would shun such large crowds.

I'm getting ready for my New Year's Day open house. That's great Disney does that for the kiddies. It makes the New Year special for them too.

@just4him That's awesome! So is your door open to whoever happens by and wants to sample some of your snacks? That sounds like a wonderful way to kick in the new year with your friends and neighbors!

@moffittjc Food! I have fruit and veggie trays to put together. I have nice big trays, so I only bought the food. I also bought a cheese and sausage tray. I have chips and dip, Veggie Straws, and another braid that looked good. They're called Steller Pretzel Braids. I also have a juice punch to put together and Sparking Apple Cider I won for the prize for my winning door.

I went to bed early. If Chris was here, I would have celebrated with him. He left on Dec. 28th.

@JESSY3236 You should. Nothing says you have to celebrate it on the 31st. Do it whenever it works best for the two of you.

@moffittjc I checked the webcam. It's a giant conch shell. They have it over Sloppy Joe's. People gather by the hundreds.
