It's Over

It would make no sense to most people to suggest trying to bungee jump over a bridge with a piece of string, but that seems to be exactly what the last holdouts in the run for the GOP nomination seem to be doing. It's over. In fact, it has been over for a long time. The best chance to overtake Trump ever in the race was Ron DeSantis, and Trump pulled way ahead of him from nearly day one. So, did it ever really start? I mean, I give them all cred for at least tossing their hats into the race and trying to offer something better. The reality is that all they said they wanted to do was what Trump already did and already has said he will do again. Their only difference was that they aren't Trump. Well, that's not good enough because the reality is that Trump stands on his own and his record speaks for itself. No matter how hard they tried to paint Trump in a bad light, voters simply see through it. They see the lies. They know better. Trump is ahead of all of whose left by 60 points. The chance of any one of whose left catching up is almost mathematically impossible. All they are doing now is wasting time and money. They can't win. They won't win. What they should do now is simply give it up and start working on what they will do next. Be it serve in Trump's cabinet or simply wait out for 2028 when Trump won't be able to run again if he wins in 2024. One of their biggest mistakes if you ask me? Being against Trump in the race. I mean, Trump got 63 million votes in 2016. He got 11 million more votes in 2020 at 74 million. It is expected that Trump may gain another 5 to 10 million votes in 2024 putting him at at least 79 million or 80 million votes. How do you expect to run against and try to rip a guy whose support only grows and grows and grows? Perhaps when they all entered the race, they all failed to get the memo. Trump is NOT hated NEARLY as much as the media wants you to believe, and Trump may well be THE most popular candidate in America to date. They simply should have known better.

I honestly don't see anyone beating Trump on the Republican side. And if it comes down to Trump vs. Biden there is no way that Biden will win. Not unless we have a repeat of 2020.

@porwest fingers double crossed on both hands. But if Biden were to become president again would Harris automatically be the VP or does he have to choose her? And can he choose someone else?

That is more clear now than ever. I think Biden is toast this time around. Fingers crossed that I am right about that.

@lovebuglena He doesn't have to choose her. But he already has. I have a sense when she announced the other day, "I am ready to lead," the Democrat plan MIGHT be to pull the 25th amendment.

I still like DeSantis, and I hope he wins. Not sure if you realize it, because it sure has not been put out there in the News, but there is a very big DeSantis for President group of followers on X.

I am aware of it. But DeSantis trails Trump by 60 points. There's not a chance DeSantis can overcome that lead. Not a chance. Look, I don't dislike the guy. He'd have my vote in another race. But right now, we need someone stronger and tougher and more able to actually get things done. And that's Trump. And we also need to know what happened in 2020 and perhaps what was really behind J6, and the only guy who might seek those answers is the guy front and center of the question.

I think maybe some of his support comes from people seeing what they are trying to do to him. I really really hope people are seeing and understanding what they are trying to do to him. Like him or not, it's not right.

I think a lot of it comes from people, REAL Americans and real patriots feeling like America is literally under attack. Polls are coming out, for example, showing that many, many more Americans now side with the idea that 2020 may have been stolen. Many more people are also questioning J6 and believe that the FBI may have been responsible for staging it. The thing is that there are simply too many unanswered questions. And I think this makes many Americans simply feel suspect. I mean, Trump got 11 million more votes in 2020 than in 2016 but still lost? And Biden supposedly received the highest number of votes in American history at 81 million? And ONLY won the election the next morning AFTER mail in ballots were counted? It simply raises some eyebrows and I think should. And then of course there was the persecution of anyone who questioned the election. There were the indictments all handed down by leftist judges and DAs and Never Trumpers. There was the denial of reasl investigations into 2020 and J6. I think it is part of what you said, but in combination with all of these other questions that simply have Americans less trusting of their government than they have ever been, they want answers, and they believe Trump can deliver them and even RESTORE America before we get to a point where we cannot return. Just my two cents.

@NJChicaa The numbers tell a different story and you can't simply dismiss them. He GAINED 11 million new votes in 2020, so when people try to say he LOST support, it is simply a lie. His support has only grown even MORE since the indictments have come down and the harder they go at him, the more popular he becomes, and polls continue to show Biden trailing Trump in mock generals. I am not saying Trump winning in 2024 is a shoo-in. But to suggest Trump is not popular is simply denying reality.

His support has only ever grown. It has NEVER dropped. Many people simply don't want to accept that fact. But it is, in fact, a fact.

She MAY gain some support. But she cannot and will not shake Trump's support. It just isn't going to happen. Regardless of your denials, Trump's support is stronger than ever and only continues to get stronger.

@porwest you are living in Fantasyland if you think he is more popular than ever. Same Americans are exhausted with him.

@NJChicaa What fantasy land would that be, I wonder? If he got 62 million votes in 2016 and 74 million votes in 2020 and has more potential votes NOW, how is the math wrong? I mean, you can try to spin it any way you want to, but the numbers show INCREASED support, and the mock generals show Trump beating Biden. I think the clear problem here is the same problem many Americans like you have always faced with Trump. You cannot and will not accept the truth. But denying it doesn't make the truth untrue. Sorry, but it just doesn't work that way no matter how badly you want it to. As for "exhaustion," it is not that Americans are exhausted with Trump. They are exhausted with the coverage and the attacks on his character, and the lies and propaganda. THAT'S what they are exhausted about. What the American people wanted from the Democrat party was for them to focus on results. They did not do that. Biden's approval ratings are in the tank, and it has nothing to do with what Trump has said or done and has everything to do with what Biden has FAILED to do.

I am waiting for the American elections with extreme worry. I am old fashioned and believe that a President of any country should not only have understanding of economics (he must have helpers for that) but also a pristine ethical personality.

Not even hardly. The country was booming when Trump was in office and completely turned around 8 years of nothing produced by Obama. Biden has sent us back in time with inflation not seen since Carter, countries at war, wage declines, higher poverty rates and child hunger, a border crisis, high crime rates, North Korea testing nuclear weapons again, the Taliban back in power, Iran attacking oil cargo ships, gas prices nearly doubled at one point, supply chain disruptions the likes we have never seen in our lifetimes and the list goes on. Biden is a disaster that just gets worse and if Kamala Harris ever becomes president, we can kiss the country goodbye. We're done.

I can only think of a few reasons why any GOP candidates are still in the race: 1) egos 2) positioning themselves for 2028 3) trying to gain a spot as VP or in Trump’s cabinet.

I think one or all of them may well be the case. Even when Christie said he dropped out because he saw no path to victory, I was like, was there ever a path? lol. He was one of the lower rungs of the ladder from day one and he has never been a popular GOP candidate, ever. In any event, I am sure more will follow soon as the possibility of winning the nomination gets slimmer and slimmer. I do think Haley will likely pick up some votes, but even in Iowa Trump leads the pack by TONS AND TONS and I don't think he loses support before he GAINS it, so, they can keep at it and keep trying to fulfill whatever it is they are trying to fulfill. But I don't even think one can even call it a race anymore. If they were sailboats the ONLY way Trump winds up behind them now is as he has already circled the globe to meet up with their tails. lol
