Legendary German Footballer Franz Beckenbauer, aged 78 is no more. Winner and captain of the winning West German team in the FIFA World Cup (Soccer World Cup)in 1974 and the manager of 1990 FIFA World Cup winner West Germany, he was also known as "Der Kaiser". I haven't seen much of him so may be I can find something on YouTube. Yet his playing style and life after player left a great mark on the German Football. He also had a great stint with Bayern Munich. Some key points : He played 584 games for Bayern Munich and 103 for West Germany. He won 5 Bundesliga titles in his career. Four of these came with Bayern Munich and one in his second and final season with Hamburger SV. He is one among the 3 players to have won a world cup both as a player and a manager. Apart from this, he won many honors. News link : HT Sports News

@LadyDuck Oh that is quite interesting! I think he might be the most well known German Football player, probably followed by Miroslav Klose.

There have been two other legendary footballers who departed recently. First, just before Beckenbauer, there was Brazilian legend who played in 1958 World Cup, Mario Zagallo, then a few days ago, Italian legend, Gigi Riva
