Winter Sucks Update

Well, I wound up taking my wife to work this morning even though I offered for her to just take my truck. But she was concerned I'd be stranded. I told her I had no plans to go anywhere. In any event, I did manage to get her started with a jump. I am sure there's nothing wrong with her battery necessarily. It was just very cold and she was parked in a way that the wind PROBABLY just deadened it. But I am also sure she will force me to buy her a new battery. I know it's coming, and once she gets on something, she won't let it rest. I better just get the budget ready right away. It's a fight I know I won't win.

@2ndchances24 Always. It's always hard to decide what, though, since of course it's so close after Christmas, and I had to put so much thought into what to get her for that. lol

Smart man. Just get her the new battery. Or, you can just take the old battery out, give it a good charge, then put it back in and tell her it's a new battery.

Turns out I was able to convince her the battery is fine. Not sure how long that will last, and if it drains again I am sure I won't be able to get away with it a second time. I am glad only because batteries are so damn expensive these days.

@moffittjc That sounds about right. Mine last year for my truck was right around that.

If we end up needing a new battery it will at least in part be covered by a warranty. I agree, how you park relative to the wind will make for problems.

It looks like, shockingly, I was able to convince her of that. So far no new battery in the works. It started fine when she got home after she tried it, we moved it away from the wind, and it started right up this morning without any issue. Fingers crossed it stays that way. Batteries are expensive these days.

It's good when you know you won't win a fight with your wife.

I think I can count on my fingers the times I HAVE won a fight with my wife. On one hand. After an accident with a circular saw. lol

I'm concerned because our second car has been parked in the same spot for months now and has not been started. Can't seem to get the hubs to be concerned about that. Have a good day.

Buying a new battery in the end will make her happy and make the truck run good. I am pretty sure you got your money's worth on the first battery. Push it as long as you can as long as you can make it through the winter. My wife gets what she wants most of the time too. Once and awhile I get a win. I wonder if she plans it that way. Either way it works for us. Have a nice day.

I got lucky and the battery has been just fine and didn't need to be replaced. I won't get away with it a second time, though. Of that I can assure you. lol

@Itsonlyadream If I could make it through to next winter that would be awesome.

@porwest I am glad things worked out well. Maybe you can get one more year out of it. Then you might see one on sale and buy it then. Save some money and not be in a bad spot.

Better get it now, before you need it. If she's unsure shemight be onto something. George and I had a similiar argument about the battery in our van a couple years ago. Turned out I was right.... and I don't know much about those things.

I was shocked I actually did convince her the battery is fine and we can hold off and keep an eye on it. Do you think it might be a set up? lol

Ouch. Yeah, that can be really expensive too. Hopefully it doesn't set you back too badly.

At least you have allowed your wife to be the winner. I know you win but you let her win instead. Good luck with buying her a new battery. Keep warm.

Turns out that for now I was able to convince her the battery is fine. Fingers crossed it stays that way. I will still budget for a new one anyway just in case.
