Here is the finished painting of the still life.
I've just finished the painting.
The first thing I did when I came to continue this painting was the spoon. I had watched a YouTube video on how to paint shiny metal, and I followed the instructions as best I could, but I still don't think it came out quite right. I painted it all in light grey first, and I painted it around the outside of the line that was there to make the spoon slightly bigger. While that was drying I got the ruby red out that came on Monday and I painted the strawberries.
Then I mixed mid yellow with yellow ochre and painted the cake cases. Then, when that was dry, I painted the dots in neat yellow ochre. I also painted the candy ball on the top with the yellow ochre. I took the colour that I'd painted the cake cases and added a lot of white to it to create the colour for the cream flowers and painted those in.
When the spoon was dry I added black to the edges and white for the highlights. I painted the milk in the glass white.
When the cream flowers were dry I added a mix of gamboge and white to areas of them for the darker orangier bits.
I added shading inbetween the strawberries and some black, white and grey areas to the glass of milk, making sure each colour was dry before adding the other.
I painted the serviette in a mix of violet and white, and added some very light violet behind the glass.
Lastly I painted the window frames with a mix of burnt umber and raw sienna. Then I put it aside to dry.
I'm going to go and start my dinner in a moment, and then later I will start on another painting. This one is of a peacock. I've also painted a mini canvas black. You'll see what I do with that later!
I hope you are all having a nice day.
See you later!
See you later!

@LadyDuck Excellent! I'm glad you have received all the packages that you ordered.
I've ordered a book that shows you pictures of Butetown and Cardiff docks, the way they used to be, to see how it's changed over time. That has been dispatched and it's due on Wednesday, and also my Doctor Who Annual 2024 has also been dispatched. I don't know when my Doctor Who Christmas special DVD, The Church on Ruby Road, is due to be released. I've had it on pre-order since before Christmas and I'm still waiting for it to be released. No-one is telling me anything!

@celticeagle That's great.
Your daughter has got good taste!
Pink is a nice colour too. I insisted on pink when we had our bath installed! (I don't think purple was one of the options or I would have had that!)

Thank you very much. I'm glad you think so. But as I keep saying, it's not about talent. Anyone can learn to draw and paint.

@sharonelton I’m having a bit of a miserable day, but thanks for asking. I had the most awful cup of coffee this morning - more like Bovril than coffee. I’m coming under unwelcome pressure from work to continue for a while once I retire. And we’re having to get rid of so many pictures to move into our tiny retirement home. This photo is of one that is not going to a charity shop. But I’ve cheered up now that your painting has transported me elsewhere. It’s beautiful.

I'm sorry you've been having a miserable day.
That coffee sounds disgusting!
If you don't want to continue for a while when you retire just tell them so! They can't force you! I'm sorry you're having to get rid of so many pictures. That is such a shame. I'm glad you're able to keep some though.
I'm glad I've cheered you up with my painting. I'm glad you like it. Are you imagining afternoon tea at the Vicarage? I'm glad I've transported you elsewhere.
