I was mylotting while I ate my grapes when I also started to play with the remote control. And there was The Da Vinci code on TV. I remember that when I read the book many years ago I loved it. It was exciting and interesting. After that came the movie and it has been shown on TV several times. But now I want to read the book again and Google the historical facts that are mixed with fiction. The book was much better than the movie. But first I´ll take a nap.

I read the book but I really didn't like the writing style. I'd already read The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail years before that. I did like the film, and did think at the time I was reading it it could make a good film with the right director and screenwriters. One of the authors of The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail has a youtube channel which includes some early documentaries he made for the BBC about the mysteries mentioned in The Da Vinci Code https://www.youtube.com/@henrylincolnspeaks/featured
The mystery of Rennes-le-Château inspired the DaVinci Code, but the secret and the cover-up go deeper than you know. Henry Lincoln, documentary filmmaker and co-author of Holy Blood, Holy Grail shares his findings. Join the mystery. Tours in the South of F

And do you believe any of his theories?

@Fleura Only that it's highly suspicious that a parish priest suddenly became hugely wealthy. Everything else is highly speculative and, in a way, unimportant to me personally but I can see why other people get very animated about it.

It seems to me that the book is always better than the movie. That's been my experience anyway.

Most of them are a lot better than the movie. Perhaps the only movie that I have felt it was as good as the book (although different) is The Godfather.

I think I may have that book here, but it is likely packed away.

I also liked the book a lot more than the movie. As we re-watched the movie not long time ago, I think I should also re-read the book now.

I haven't seen the film but I did read the book a long time ago. It was one of a whole string of books on this theme; one of the most notable was 'The Holy Blood and The Holy Grail' which came out in the early 80s. At university I was involved in a society concerned with mediaeval history and we even went on holiday to the south of France to 'investigate' this supposed mystery. Basically a load of mumbo jumbo but a good excuse for a memorable holiday!

I read the book years ago, and I think I've seen the film, but I've got to admit that I don't remember much about them. The book's a definite page-turner, very well-paced, but I found it pretty far-fetched.

Couldn't agree more, I think Tom Hanks was not a best choice as Robert Langdon, plus I felt more suspense from the book than the movie.
