The grocery list is growing.

Good morning, friends. I just thanked life for all the things in which I don´t spend money. I don´t spend much in clothes and I only turn on lights in the room I am at night. Although I have Netflix, that is a lot cheaper than going to the cinema. And I almost never go to a show. With that in my mind, I keep adding yummy things to my grocery list, my only luxury now. Now, after cleaning part of my deep freezer, I am buying some meats to have different dishes now that it is summer nad I´m more picky. I bought a trout to thaw for Leticia when she comes to visit. She has had many problems in her life lately trying to take care of a brother that is dying. I feel that food is a beautiful way of bonding. I don´t mean that we should eat a lot, but that we should eat quality food and, if possible, surrounded by our loved ones. What are your thoughts about food, friends?

Some food items sure have gone up in price. A lot of my supplements are too. So sorry to hear that Leticia's brother is dying. That is hard to go through.

Same here. I have enough clothes, I don't go to the cinema. We only have Freeview, which is free, hence the name, and I only buy things from Amazon with gift cards that I earn from doing surveys. And my Mum pays for the groceries with her money and with some housekeeping money that she gets from my step-dad. I hope you were successful in cleaning the deep freezer. I hope you enjoy your visit from.Leticia and I'm sorry about her brother. I'm on a macrobiotic diet. This is because eating meat and dairy is bad for your health. I do eat fish and sea food though. I hope you are well. Have a nice day.

@sharonelton I won´t really clean the deep freezer until the summer is over. But I´m eating a lot of what is older and sharing with Luna all the mistery food with no label or date.

@marguicha My Mum defrosts her freezers about once every six months. It's a bit tricky because she has to put all the stuff from one freezer into the other freezer while the first freezer is defrosting, and then when that's done repeat the process with the other freezer!

I’ve been a bit concerned thinking you were not eating enough protein, Marga. I should have known you had it under control the entire time!

I eat less meat than what I used too. But I eat lots of eggs, milk and cheese. And except for now that is so warm, I eat legumes once a week.

@MarieCoyle I used to eat meat almost every day when I was young. And lots more. I now eat smaller quantities of everything. I remember that up to 6 or 7 years ago I ate 2 big dishes of lentils for lunch as I love them. Now I can only eat one dish as I can also eat one piece of cake at a time.

@marguicha I eat beans or lentils at least once a week. I don't eat meat every day, I understand that.

When I do my grocery shopping it is so difficult not to try and indulge too much but to choose foods I enjoy eating so I have meals throughout the month since I order once a month, I do try but like this time I am also enjoying ice cream sandwiches and Hostess cupcakes, My one passion is cottage cheese so I always have plenty of that and I eat it with pork patties or as dessert with strawberry preserves,

I agree that food is a great way to bond. It is the simple things in life that mean the most. I spend most of my money on groceries these days it seems.

I am like you in that I always turn off lights when I am not in the room. People laugh at me for doing this but I cannot see anything funny about trying to save money.

I have always wondered at the amount of lights people have on. Anf it is worse during Christmas.
