Pancakes on Shrove Tuesday

We went to the movies at the clubhouse last night and saw The Wedding Planner starring Jennifer Lopez and Matthew MacConaughey. I didn’t enjoy it that much really but that’s just me.
After the movie, we went to a friend’s house and had pancakes in honour of Shrove Tuesday. Each week, after the movies, we alternate between three household and share some drinks and a chat.
We’d actually forgotten it was Pancake Day although we would normally cook pancakes each year on this day. We have them quite often with all sorts of fillings. Last night we just added lemon juice and sugar. It was a lovely end to the evening.
The photo, which you might have seen before, shows Vince tossing pancakes. He’s a dab hand at each after so many years’ practice.

The International House of Pancakes had free “short stacks” of pancakes in honor of pancake day.

Back in the 70s I worked at a place that was very close to an IHOP and we'd go there for lunch. Unfortunately, the only one around here is in Niagara Falls... definitely not walking distance.

Maple syrup seems to be the 'go-to' for pancakes.

@Happy2BeMe It's pretty expensive here especially the genuine stuff.

Pancake day sounds interesting!!
I think that I have heard of this movie before although I won't be much interested in seeing it!
Shrove Tuesday is a new term for me !
I hope that Vince is doing fine.

Hi Judy, I’m not sure I’ve seen that film, but JLo isn’t usually in great movies. I prefer her singing, and she’s not bad looking.
Happy Pancake Day. Looking at discussions around the Lot, it seems Americans don’t celebrate this day as we do. “We” as in Brits and Aussies. I am not a fan of pancakes, but I did have a couple with golden syrup drizzled over them. I would have maple syrup, but it’s very expensive over here.
Well done Vince tossing those pancakes. I’m not so confident!

I'm not sure why but we never buy maple syrup. I know the genuine stuff is incredibly expensive. Golden syrup is good on pancakes and also good on bread with cream.
Australians are much more aligned to GB than to the US, however much we might follow their trends. Most of the time, I don't really 'get' American humour. I just don't find it all that funny. But British humour is something else altogether.

it is a shame that you did not enjoy the film, but I am glad that you did enjoy your pancakes. I think lemon juice and sugar is the nicest topping for pancakes , we had ours with maple syrup.
