In what ways do you have OCD? In what ways do you NOT have OCD?

OCD is Obsessive Compulsive Disorder. People with OCD are perfectionists, and often have rituals they perform to feel "safe" and reduce anxiety. Last night a friend came over and we jammed on acoustic guitars. We didn't sing. We just played "meditations" based on Irish and Indian musics. He has OCD and he says "let me do my OCD sh*t" when he gets here. He has two bags of "stuff" and has to put them in the right place before we jam. I have what I call "selective OCD." As I have mentioned in previous posts, I will correct typos I see in MyLot posts, and even in old comments I've made. I just corrected one of my MyLot titles. The corners on the speakers I restore must be "perfect," and I am really picky about what goes on Vanny's and my YouTube channel. But my house is a mess, I sometimes leave dishes in the sink, and I could care less whether my truck is washed. In some ways, I'm a slob. OCD is an "Anxiety Disorder" but it's not debilitating. And what I call "selective OCD" can be a good thing. It can yield a high quality product, whether that product be music, a material object, or a clean house. In what ways do you have OCD? In what ways do you NOT have OCD?

I do the same, if I see a typo (also in my old comments), I edit and correct. I place always everything back at its place, because I hate to get mad searching for missing things.

The Gremlins are active here because I do NOT always put things back where they belong.

@LadyDuck Can you find my 48 missing guitar picks, five missing flashlights, and three missing hammers?

Horse, you do NOT have OCD. OCD is called an anxiety DISORDER because it IS debilitating.

No, I don't think I have real OCD, though I do have mild social anxiety. There are several anxiety disorders out there (with much overlap, I think) and the severity varies from person to person. Anxiety disorders respond better to treatment than things like Narcissistic Personality Disorder or Borderline Personality Disorder.

I'm one of those "A place for everything and everything in its place" types, so when someone leaves something where it shouldn't be, I'll usually return it to its normal place/position. And I correct typos in printed books.

@TheHorse Some books don't seem to have been proofed before going to press so I do it after the fact.

@BarBaraPrz Oh, I get it. Yes, I'm shocked when I see typos in news stories, printed books, etc.

I have to correct MyLot errors, too. And all other writing errors. When I see them. I think my OCD might be selective, too.

@TheHorse I think so, too. As long as I get to keep picking the areas.

@xander6464 I spend more time picking my nose. I do have allergies.

Yeah, I think being perfectionistic in some areas is good.

I have a ritual of what I do when I get back here from work each day. I do the same things in the same order.

I tend to do that in the mornings when I wake up. I also put certain things in certain pockets before I head out.

I correct typos too and things must be straight, etc. in the house although we have a lot of clutter. For example, if I see something across the room that doesn't sit quite right, it will bother me until I finally get up and fix it. I never liked to clean and am glad we now have a housekeeper. Yet I'm a perfectionist in so many of the things I do. Have a good day. Love the pic.

I have big time clutter here. Yesterday I vacuumed and cleared out some stuff. I should de-clutter some more. I sometimes tweak the angles of photos, etc. I don;t think I have "real" OCD, but I do like certain things "right."

@TheHorse Shortly here I may have to do major decluttering and downsizing if hubs isn't going to come home. It breaks my heart.

Good for you. Perfectionism is overrated.

I get really fixated on things sometimes and spend doing the one activity and I'm a bit fussy about how I arrange bookshelves and knick-knacks. I'm not fussy about the house however.

I'm the type to arrive one hour earlier to a venue we have agreed to meet at. And I'll still get mad when you arrive late. I happen to always be the first to arrive. Me and "being late" are enemies. I also always wash utensils immediately we finish eating. I don't like when there are dirty dishes in the sink. But I care less if the house is washed or not as long as it is not dusty.
