They Never Look Up

It drives me crazy when I am watching a horror flick and the damsel in distress is just too dumb. She is walking forward slowly with eyes that are like a doe in the headlights, all buggy and over-exaggerated. I can see it in the older films when women were dependent on men and couldn't fight their way out of a paper bag. Not the independent broads of today that are supposed to be able to put 2 and 2 together and figure just maybe the monster is up not down. But, nope they just don't get it. It is so frustrating. Keeps me just where I am supposed to be-- on the edge of my seat. I'd much rather see the broad hit the monster with a mallet or poke him in the eye with an ice pick.

I think that's why I never got into the horror genre. I found it boring and predictable. No real good plot in most cases. They keep the women dumb as doornails. It's cringe-worthy. I feel your pain.

@kaylachan ......That is true. If I find one that isn't so predictable it is a good day.

@celticeagle Yep. It's sad that I don't need to see what's happening. Those films are so predictable.

Writers and directors are of no help either. They need to write a better script. I like some of the Lifetime movies where the women actually have some sense.

@celticeagle Those movies depict women as brainless. I agree that we need better scripts.

now you're thinking like I am I always think jsut take a big pan and whack the sense out of whoever the monster is. In fact whenever I watch one of my favorite Stephen Kings IT I always think that someone should have punched the teeth out of the horrid clown

Yup. Never ever pay attention to that over the head bump or thump and for sure stay the heck away from the cellar.

Drives me nuts the horror movies that show the women or men grabbing a baseball bat to go outside in the dark to see what a noise was.

I love the really bad sci fi pix of the 50s. Ones like Plan 9 From Outer Space and Robot Monster. Have a great day.

Yes, indeed. When I was little we had a channel 8 that had grade C movies. One I recall was of a lover's lane situation and this ugly craggy hand would come out of nowhere and scare the women while the men are outside the car trying to see what the noise was. It was almost comical.
